India: Minor girl raped by man in UP's Mau

Mau (UP) Jul 17 (PTI) A one-and-a-half-year old girl was allegedly raped by a man here, police said on Saturday.

The man took the minor girl away on the pretext of buying her toffees on Friday night. He took her to a secluded spot and allegedly raped her. He later left the girl outside her house and fled, police said, quoting the complaint from the victim's family.

According to the police, a crowd immediately gathered at the spot and the man was also identified. The police reached the spot and later arrested the accused, officials said.

Amnesty urges Ethiopia to end arbitrary detention of Tigrayans

17 July 2021; MEMO: Amnesty International today urged the Ethiopian authorities to end arbitrary detention of Tigrayans, Anadolu Agency reports.

In a statement, the global human rights watchdog said: "The arrests appear to be ethnically motivated, with former detainees, witnesses and lawyers describing how police checked identity documents before arresting people and taking them to detention centres."

Israel club cancels football match after Spanish club refuses to play in Jerusalem

Arab member of the Israeli Knesset, Sami Abu Shehadeh, said the Palestinian people's vigilance prevented a great propaganda victory for the racist Beitar Jerusalem FC, explaining that the decision came after extensive Arab and Palestinian pressure in cooperation with the Barcelona fans earlier this month.

Children in Silwan traumatised by Israel's ethnic cleansing policy

16 July 2021; MEMO: Palestinian children in the occupied East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Silwan have been traumatised by Israel's ongoing ethnic cleansing campaign, including threats to demolish their homes.

In a video report, the Maydan Al-Quds TV channel showed children who said they were afraid of displacement and are haunted by the idea of losing their homes and memories.
