India: New airport to be built on Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway

Kanpur: A new international airport will be built on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway.

At the same time, the existing Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport will be used for cargo.

The LDA has also sent the City Development Plan made as a vision document along with the proposal for the need of the new airport to the government for approval.

According to the CDP, it will be necessary to start a new airport by the year 2037. 

The capacity of the existing airport is completed.

Aurangabad, Mar 27 (PTI) In the wake of the fuel price rise and problems in maintaining a motorcycle due to the COVID-19 pandemic-induced restrictions, a man working as a lab assistant at a pharmacy college here in Maharashtra commutes on a horse to his workplace everyday.

The diesel price in Aurangabad is just a few paise short of Rs 100 per litre, while the petrol rate has crossed Rs 115 per litre.

The strictest action should be guaranteed against the land mafia by running a campaign in all the Tehsils.

China and Nepal study feasibility of cross-border power grid

KATHMANDU, March 26 (Reuters) - China and Nepal will conduct a feasibility study to construct a high-voltage power transmission line across the Himalayas to facilitate the exchange of electric power, officials said on Saturday.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Nepali counterpart Narayan Khadka witnessed the signing of an agreement following talks in Nepal's capital Kathmandu.

Nepal faces power shortages during the dry season and the planned grid would alleviate the problem through imports from China.

Officials: Taliban blocked unaccompanied women from flights: Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) — Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers refused to allow dozens of women to board several flights, including some overseas, because they were traveling without a male guardian, two Afghan airline officials said Saturday.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of repercussions from the Taliban, said dozens of women who arrived at Kabul’s international airport Friday to board domestic and international flights were told they couldn’t do so without a male guardian.

India: Odisha man beheads 8yr old girl, roams village with severed head

Sambalpur, Mar 25 (PTI) A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beheading an eight-year-old girl and roaming with the severed head across a village in Odisha's Sambalpur district on Friday, police said.

The motive behind the macabre incident, which sent shockwaves at the village in Jamankira block, is yet to be ascertained, they said.

India: Several leaders from Himachal Pradesh join AAP

New Delhi, Mar 25 (PTI) Several local leaders from Himachal Pradesh, including those from the Congress, joined the AAP in presence of it's national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence here on Friday, the party said.

Welcoming them, Kejriwal said people of Himachal Pradesh, after seeing the work of his government in Delhi, want "an honest and corruption-free government in their state as well".
