Sterlite Tech aims 10% global fibre market share by June 2020

New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) Broadband technology provider Sterlite Tech is looking at commanding 10 per cent share of the global fibre market by June 2020, company's chief executive Anand Agarwal said Monday.

The company is also focussed on enhancing production capacity of optical fibre and optical fibre cables.

"We are now looking to move fibre market share from 6-7 per cent to 10 per cent of global by June 2020," Agarwal told PTI.

Pak, UK reach agreement on repatriation of 'looted wealth'

Islamabad, Sep 17 (PTI) Pakistan and the UK signed a justice and accountability agreement on Monday, nearly a month after Imran Khan, who has vowed to bring back money stolen by corrupt Pakistani politicians and taken to Britain, assumed power.

Law Minister Dr Farogh Naseem and British Home Secretary Sajid Javid jointly announced a justice and accountability agreement between the UK and Pakistan aimed at repatriating "the looted wealth of the country".

Imran Khan govt auctions 70 luxury cars as part of austerity drive

Islamabad, Sep 17 (PTI) The cash-strapped Pakistan government on Monday sold 70 cars "above their market price" as it started the process of auctioning 102 luxury vehicles of the PM House under Prime Minister Imran Khan's austerity drive, a senior minister said.

Apart from luxury cars, the government, facing huge debts and liabilities, plans to auction eight buffaloes kept by deposed and jailed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House for his "gastronomic requirements".

BJP worker washes MP Nishikant Dubey's feet, drinks the water

Godda (J'khand), Sep 17 (PTI) A Bharatiya Janata Party worker washed party MP Nishikant Dubey's feet and drank the water at a function in Jharkhand's Godda district, triggering an uproar.

The incident came to light when Dubey went to lay the foundation stone of a bridge at Kanbhara village in Godda block -- around 330 km from Ranchi -- on Sunday, with Pawan Kumar Sah washing the feat of the BJP MP on a metal plate and then gulping it.

JNU teachers take out rally against violence

New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) Before the Jawaharlal Nehru University administration banned protests and rallies in campus on Monday, the varsity's teachers' association took out a peace march against the incidents of violence.

The march, which was also attended by students and university staffers, started from Ganga Dhaba and culminated at Chandrabhaga Hostel. The teachers and students are also carrying out a night vigil against the attack and the ban imposed by the administration on protests and gatherings.

India's Supreme Court overturns gov't ban on sale of drugs

NEW DELHI, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- India's Supreme Court Monday overturned a government ban on a popular pain killer and two other drugs.

The three medicines, including popular pain killer Saridon, were among 328 drugs banned by the Indian Health Ministry last week, stating there's "no therapeutic justification" for the ingredients and that those could pose risk to people.

PM Modi turns 68, to celebrate birthday in Varanasi

New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate his 68th birthday on Monday in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi where he will interact with school children.

Modi will reach Narur village this afternoon where he will interact with children of a primary school, which is aided by a non-profit organisation, Room to Read.

Later, at the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) campus, the prime minister will interact with students of the Kashi Vidyapeeth and the children assisted by them, according to the Prime Minister's Office.

'Thugs of Hindostan' to release worldwide on November 8

Mumbai, Sep 17 (PTI) "Thugs of Hindostan", featuring megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan in the lead roles, will hit the theatres on November 8.

The Yash Raj Films project also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Apart from announcing the release date, YRF also unveiled the logo of action entertainer.

Vijay Krishna Acharya is directing the movie, which marks the first collaboration of Bachchan and Khan.

"Thugs of Hindostan" has been extensively shot in picturesque locations of Malta and Rajasthan.
