India: Parlour operator raped at gunpoint in UP

Ghaziabad (UP), Oct 10 (PTI) A beauty parlour operator in Muradnagar town was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a man, police said on Monday.

According to the complaint given to the police, the woman has alleged that she was raped by a man who came in contact with her through a pamphlet which she had distributed for the publicity of the parlour with her contact number and address published on it.

India: 32-year-old woman gang-raped in Delhi hotel

New Delhi, Oct 11 (PTI) A 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men inside a hotel room in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar, police said on Wednesday.

The accused -- Ajay (39), Tara Chand (34) and Naresh (38) -- all natives of Rajashan's Alwar, have been arrested, they said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Usha Rangnani said a PCR call regarding the incident was received at Adarsh Nagar police station on Sunday.

DADU, Pakistan (AP) — Every part of Rajul Noor’s life has been wrecked by this summer’s massive monsoon-driven floods. The 12-year-old girl’s family home is destroyed, as is the school that she loved. The friends she used to walk to school and play with are scattered, finding refuge elsewhere.

“Our whole world is underwater, and nobody has helped us,” she said, speaking in the tent where she, her parents and four siblings now live in Dadu district in Pakistan’s Sindh province.

Afghan Gov’t Begins Reconstruction Of Major Highway In Southern Region

KANDAHAR, Oct 9 (NNN-ANA) – The Taliban-run caretaker administration, has started the reconstruction of a major highway in the southern Kandahar province, officials said.

In the first phase, 55 km of the road linking Kandahar to the neighbouring Zabul province, would be reconstructed, followed by the reconstruction of highways linking Kandahar to Kabul and Kandahar to Herat, said Bakht Mohammad, who is with the reconstruction project.

The first phase project will be finished in five months, with funds provided by the administration, the official said.

Nepali president tests positive for COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital of Kathmandu, tested positive for COVID-19, a hospital official said on Sunday.

The president, who was admitted to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital on Saturday, tested positive for COVID-19 in a PCR test, said Dr. Dinesh Kafle, executive director of the hospital.

India: Man arrested for spying for Pakistan

Jaipur, Oct 8 (PTI) A 31-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistani intelligence agencies, an official said on Saturday.

Ravi Prakash Meena, a resident of Rajasthan, who was posted as a class-4 employee at the Sena Bhawan in Delhi, was honey-trapped by a Pakistani woman agent. He was sharing confidential and strategic information about the Indian Army with her, DGP (Intelligence), Rajasthan, Umesh Mishra, said.

India: MCD begins work on beautification of Delhi for G-20 summit

New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) Over 370 public places in Delhi have been identified for beautification in view of the G-20 summit next year, civic officials said on Saturday.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has earmarked 375 public places for planting exotic flowering species, including gazania and pansy, in all its 12 zones, it said in a statement.

These places include 16 flyovers, 261 colony parks, 27 parks situated at markets, 62 parks situated on main roads and nine roundabouts.

India: Woman chops off genital of husband, kills him

Jajpur, Oct 8 (PTI) A 33-year-old woman allegedly chopped off the genitals of her husband before stabbing him to death in Odisha's Jajpur district, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place at Pubola Mundasahi village on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Raju Champia (39) of the village, police said.

India: 12-girl-old rape victim gives birth to boy in UP's Meerut

Meerut (UP), Oct 8 (PTI) A 12-year-old alleged rape victim from Ghaziabad gave birth to a baby boy at the medical college here, an official said on Saturday.

The medical college administration confirmed that the mother and the child were healthy.

The girl, who lives in Ghaziabad's Khoda police station area, was admitted to the medical college on October 1 and she gave birth through C-Section, medical college principal Dr RK Gupta said.

The girl is a Class 7 student.
