Russia notifies OSCE it will not take part in Ukraine-requested consultations — diplomat

VIENNA, February 15. /TASS/: Russia has officially notified the OSCE that it will not take part in the Ukraine-requested consultations on the situation at the Ukrainian border, since it is not conducting any extraordinary military activities, Konstantin Gavrilov, who leads the Russian delegation to the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, told TASS on Tuesday.

Iran 'is in a hurry' to revive nuclear deal if its interests secured -foreign minister

VIENNA, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Iran is "in a hurry" to strike a new nuclear accord as long as its national interests are protected, its foreign minister said on Monday as Tehran and the United States resumed indirect talks on salvaging Tehran's 2015 agreement with world powers.

The talks, with European intermediaries shuttling between the two, have been held in Vienna since April amid growing Western fears about Tehran’s accelerating nuclear advances, seen by Western powers as irreversible unless a deal is struck soon.

Iranian, Russian top nuclear negotiators hold bilateral talks

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian negotiating delegation headed by Ali Bagheri and Russian negotiating delegation headed by Mikhail Ulyanov held a bilateral meeting in Vienna on Saturday.

The meeting was held in continuation of eighth round of talks on removal of the sanctions.  

These days, the representatives of Iran, EU and 4+1 countries are busy with completing the draft of the agreement and making decisions about certain important disputed issues.

Austria resists including Nord Stream 2 in EU package of Russia sanctions

VIENNA, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Austria is sticking with its opposition to including the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in a package of sanctions against Moscow that the European Union is preparing in the event Russia invades Ukraine, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said on Friday.

Austrian oil company OMV (OMVV.VI) is one of Russian gas giant Gazprom's partners in the pipeline project connecting Russia to Germany, which has been completed but is not yet operational as it is awaiting German and EU regulatory approval. Austria owns 31.5% of OMV and backs the project.

Russia not supporting Poland's initiative on dialogue on Euro-security in OSCE — envoy

VIENNA, February 8. /TASS/: Russia has not welcomed the initiative by the Polish OSCE chairmanship to establish "the Renewed European Security Dialogue" which overlaps all existing OSCE formats, Russia's Permanent Representative to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich said on Tuesday.

Talks to salvage Iran nuclear deal resume quietly in Vienna

VIENNA, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Indirect talks between Iran and the United States on salvaging Tehran's 2015 nuclear deal with world powers resumed on Tuesday after a 10-day break, but envoys gave little away as to whether they were closer to resolving various thorny issues.

Delegates say the talks have made limited progress since they resumed in November after a five-month hiatus prompted by the election of hardline Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Avalanches kill 8 in Austria

VIENNA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed in three separate avalanches in western Austria within 24 hours, the Austrian news agency APA reported Saturday.

Police said the incidents happened in the states of Vorarlberg and Tyrol on Friday and Saturday. In one avalanche near the Austrian-Swiss border, four Swedish skiers and their Austrian guide were killed.

Authorities have issued warnings of more avalanches on Saturday and Sunday.

Iran nuclear talks 'on right track', says EU official

22 Jan 2022; MEMO: Negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal are "on right track" and a final deal might be reached soon, an EU official said on Friday and reported by Anadolu News Agency.

"We are on the right track for a final agreement," a senior EU official said about the negotiations in the Austrian capital, Vienna, to bring the US and Iran back to the 2015 nuclear deal.

The official pointed out that the slow pace of negotiations may put a "good solution" in danger.
