Sudan: Heavy bombing south of Khartoum leaves 17 dead

01 June 2023; MEMO: The Sudan Doctors Syndicate announced on Wednesday that 17 people were killed and 106 injured as a result of heavy bombing in the Mayo district, south of the capital, Khartoum.

The non-governmental medical syndicate disclosed in a statement: "The Mayo area (Market 6) witnessed violent and bloody bombing this afternoon, leaving 17 dead and more than 106 injuries, 36 of which required surgical intervention."

USA: Artificial intelligence raises risk of extinction, experts say in new warning

(AP) --- Scientists and tech industry leaders, including high-level executives at Microsoft and Google, issued a new warning Tuesday about the perils that artificial intelligence poses to humankind.

US debt ceiling bill set for tight vote in House

Iran wants to upgrade Syria's air defence system: Official

Iran arrests espionage cell working for Israel

UN to start operation to offload decaying oil tanker off Yemen

30 May 2023; MEMO: The United Nations will start the "preparatory phase" this week to offload 1.1 million barrels of oil from a decaying tanker off the coast of war-torn Yemen to prevent a catastrophic spill, according to an official, Anadolu Agency reports.

A UN vessel, "Ndeavor", arrived at the port of Hudaydah on Yemen's west coast Tuesday, UN coordinator for Yemen, David Gressly, told reporters in New York via video-conference.
