Russian bombardment of Ukraine’s capital kills at least 3 people, wounds others

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia launched yet another aerial bombardment of Kyiv on Thursday, killing at least three people and wounding others, authorities said.

Following a reported 17 drone and missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital in May, Russian forces hit the capital in the early morning with ground-launched missiles.

Myanmar towns record highest temperature in nearly 60 years

YANGON, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Two towns in Myanmar recorded the hottest day in nearly 60 years on Wednesday, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said on Thursday.

Hkamti, a town of western Myanmar's Sagaing Region, logged its highest temperature in 58 years at 42.3 degrees Celsius, said the weather bureau.

Myitkyina, a town of northern Myanmar's Kachin state, registered its hottest day in 57 years at 41.8 degrees Celsius, it added.

Iran to become member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in July — Foreign Minister

DUBAI, June 1. /TASS/: Iran's accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be completed in July, the country’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Thursday.

"We will become a full-fledged member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in July, when the next summit of the association is to take place," he said as quoted by the Tasnim news agency saying.

OTTAWA, June 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Canada will soon print warning labels directly on cigarettes in a world-first, the country’s health agency announced.

New packaging will feature a warning on each cigarette with phrases like: “Cigarettes cause cancer” and “Poison in every puff”.

The regulation will come into effect on Aug 1, Health Canada said.
