India: Engine trouble forces Indian flight to make emergency landing, passengers safe

NEW DELHI, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- A mid-air scare forced an IndiGo airlines flight to make an emergency landing Friday at the airport in Patna, the capital city of the eastern Indian state of Bihar, officials said.

All the passengers are said to be safe.

The Delhi-bound flight 6E 2433 carrying 181 passengers and eight crew made the landing shortly after taking off from the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna, after one of its engines became inoperative.

Officials said the flight returned to its origin barely three minutes after its departure.

HANOI, Aug 4 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam will consider a direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) mechanism, between renewable power generators and large electricity users, without going through its state utility EVN, local media reported today.

If approved, the buying and selling of electricity would be conducted through a private transmission line invested by the private sector, local newspaper Vietnam News reported, citing the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Ukraine says Russia planning 'false flag' attack at Belarus refinery

KYIV, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The Security Service of Ukraine accused Russia on Friday of preparing to stage a "false flag" attack at the Mozyr oil refinery in Belarus in order to blame Ukrainian saboteurs as part of an effort to draw Minsk into the war in Ukraine.

The attack, it said in a statement on the Telegram app, would be carried out by military and intelligence forces sent by Moscow to Belarus disguised as Wagner mercenaries who were exiled after staging a mutiny in Russia in June.

IS leader killed in Syria by rival group: monitor

DAMASCUS, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Islamic State (IS) leader Abu Hussein al-Husseini al-Quraishi was killed in Syria's northwestern province of Idlib by a rival rebel group, a war monitor reported on Friday.

Al-Quraishi was killed during clashes near a refugee camp in the village of Atama in northern Idlib, which is a few kilometers away from the town of Jindires in Aleppo province, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Both areas are under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), previously known as the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front.

Body found stuck in floating US-Mexico border barrier installed by Texas, Mexico says

MEXICO CITY, Aug 4 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A “lifeless person” has been found stuck in the floating barrier set up by Texas along the U.S-Mexico border, according to Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  

The agency said authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety contacted the Mexican consulate in Eagle Pass, Texas, around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to notify them of the discovery in the floating barrier along the Rio Grande.

According to Haaretz, in her verdict High Court Justice Yael Wilner claimed that the outpost's buildings were relocated from privately-owned Palestinian land and therefore negates the claim of illegal construction.

U.S. tourist killed in boat crash off Amalfi Coast, Italian media say

ROME (AP) — An American woman was killed off the Amalfi Coast after the motorboat she and her family were traveling on crashed into a tourist sailboat, Italian state TV said Friday.

The crash occurred Thursday off the popular stretch of coastline near Naples in southern Italy.

According to Italian media reports, the motorboat, rented through a skipper, slammed into the sailboat, which was carrying dozens of U.S. and German tourists, including some celebrating a wedding.

At least two die as heavy rains hit Slovenia, forcing evacuations

KAMNIK, Slovenia Aug 4 (Reuters) - At least two people died as torrential rains hit northern and western Slovenia on Friday, causing floods, cutting power and disrupting traffic.

Two men from the Netherlands died, possibly after being hit by lightning, Slovenian press agency STA reported. The Dutch government confirmed the deaths but not the cause.

An elderly Slovenian woman also died during the storm, though authorities were still looking into the circumstances, STA added.
