Russian Defense Ministry denies border violations during flights over Sea of Japan

MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/: Two Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers did not violate other countries’ borders during their scheduled flight over neutral waters of the Sea of Japan, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.

"On July 23, 2019, two Tu-95MS strategic bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces were performing a scheduled flight in the airspace over neutral waters of the Sea of Japan," the ministry noted.

Britain waits for US before Huawei 5G decision

Turkey to launch operation in Syria if safe zone not established: FM

ANKARA, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Turkey will launch a new operation in northern Syria if a safe zone is not created, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Monday.

In an interview with private broadcaster TGRT News, Cavusoglu said he hoped an agreement would be reached after meeting with the U.S. special envoy for Syria James Jeffrey, who is visiting Ankara.

Talks between Turkey and the United States on the safe zone in northeastern Syria had recently slowed, the Turkish top diplomat said.

Greece's conservative gov't wins confidence vote

ATHENS, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Greece's conservative government, which emerged from the July 7 general elections, won a confidence vote in parliament on Monday evening, pledging to rebuild the country in the post-bailout era.

A total of 158 MPs voted in favor of the new administration led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, while 142 voted against during the roll call vote in the 300-member strong assembly, which was broadcast live on Greek national broadcaster ERT.

UK threatens Iran with larger military presence by West in Gulf

LONDON, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Britain is seeking to put together a European-led maritime protection mission to protect shipping in the Gulf following the seizure of a British oil tanker by Iran, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt told the House of Commons Monday.

Updating MPs about the crisis, Hunt announced the Department of Transport has raised the security level for British-flagged shipping, advising against all passage in Iranian waters and, for the moment, in the entire Strait of Hormuz.
