(AP) --- Stocks wobbled in choppy trading on Wall Street Tuesday as gains from banks and energy companies tempered losses from communications and technology companies.

The S&P 500 fell 0.2% as of 11:42 a.m. Eastern. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 50 points, or 0.1%, to 35,669 and the Nasdaq fell 1%.

Bond yields edged higher. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 1.66% from 1.63% late Monday. That helped send banks higher. Bank of America rose 2.3%.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — Three people were missing following a fire and explosion at a home in Michigan that damaged several adjacent homes and sent debris falling onto a neighborhood, authorities said.

In addition to those missing after the Monday night explosion in Flint, two people were hospitalized, Fire Department Battalion Chief Ramsey Clapper told WEYI-TV. Nearby homes were damaged or destroyed and there were reports the explosion was felt miles away.

Flint Police Chief Terence Green told MLive-The Flint Journal at the scene that “there appears to be fatalities.”

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert has joined the crowded field of Republicans mounting primary challenges against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The East Texas lawmaker is the latest prominent Republican seeking to unseat his party’s incumbent in the wake of Paxton’s top deputies reporting him to the FBI last year for alleged corruption. Gohmert announced his candidacy on Twitter Monday with a fundraising request that highlighted “the latest ethical, moral, and criminal allegations” against Paxton.
