Top EU official in Tehran to close gaps in Vienna nuclear talks

27 March 2022; MEMO: European Union's coordinator for Iran nuclear talks held wide-ranging discussions with Iranian officials in Tehran on Sunday in a bid to close remaining gaps on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal, Anadolu Agency reports.

Enrique Mora met with Ali Bagheri Kani, who has been leading Iran's team of negotiators in Vienna since November, after four weeks of deadlock.

EU envoy in Tehran amid hopes to restore nuclear agreement

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A leading European Union diplomat held talks in Tehran on Sunday, Iran’s state-run media reported, amid hopes that an agreement to restore Iran’s tattered nuclear deal with world powers could be completed.

The meetings between the EU’s envoy, Enrique Mora, and top Iranian officials come at a sensitive moment for talks to revive the deal, as the glimmers of a resolution to some of the thorniest issues in the negotiations have emerged.

Iran: Oil production back to pre-sanction levels

26 March 2022; MEMO: Oil production in Iran has risen to what it was before sanctions were imposed by the US in 2018 after former President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement.

The Iranian Ministry of Oil announced in a statement on Friday: "One of the promises of the Oil Ministry in the government of (Iranian) President Ebrahim Raisi has been fulfilled by returning Iran's oil production to the level before the unilateral US sanctions were imposed."

Iran reaffirms red lines set for Vienna nuke talks

TEHRAN, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian has reaffirmed Iran's red lines, such as lifting sanctions "to the maximum," for reaching an agreement in the nuclear talks in Vienna, the Iranian Students' News Agency reported Friday.

Abdollahian made the statement during his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut on Thursday, highlighting Iran's determination to defend the red lines set for the nuclear talks to safeguard its interests.

Russia, Iran consider adopting financial payment system beyond SWIFT

25 March 2022; MEMO: Russia and Iran are considering the possibility of recognising the Russian payment system for electronic fund transfers MIR, as an alternative to the global Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) network, the Iranian ambassador to Moscow said on Thursday.

"We are making efforts in this direction in order to implement good steps in this field in the future," Kazem Jalali said.

Iran and Syria to bolster ties after Ukraine crisis

23 March 2022; MEMO:Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, arrived in Damascus on Wednesday and said Iran's priority was to strengthen strategic ties in a changing global scene after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Amirabdollahian told reporters on his arrival that his country stood with Syria in "the same trench" and that ties with Damascus were going through their best phase, Reuters reports.

Iran Vows Never To Abandon “Peaceful” Nuke Activities

TEHRAN, Mar 22 (NNN-TASNIM) – Iran’s nuclear chief, Mohammad Eslami, said yesterday that, Iran will never abandon its “peaceful” nuclear activities in the country.

Iran also pledged to “work diligently, to advance value-creating (nuclear) programmes” for Iranians, the chief of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI), was quoted as saying.

Speaking on the occasion of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, Eslami said, AEOI has made a comprehensive plan, to apply new nuclear technologies, to improving health, agricultural, industrial and environmental services.
