Iran’s Parliament sacks minister over alleged mismanagement

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s Parliament voted Sunday to fire the country’s industries minister over alleged mismanagement amid widespread dissatisfaction with the government.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said 162 of 272 lawmakers present voted in favor of dismissing Reza Fatemi Amin. The chamber has 290 seats. Fatemi Amin survived a previous impeachment in 2022.

The decision came following discussion among lawmakers and government officials who questioned the minister.

Iran, Syria strengthen banking, transport ties

Tehran (ISNA) - The heads of Iran and Syria Joint Economic Commission met in Damascus prior to the upcoming visit of the two countries' Presidents for finalizing mutual agreements.

Mehrdad Bazrpash, Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development as the head of Iran-Syria Joint Economic Commission arrived in Damascus on Tuesday at the head of a high-ranking delegation in order to expand economic ties and facilitate banking and commercial transactions. 

Iranian feature film “World War III” to be screened at Beijing Int’l Film Festival

Tehran (ISNA) – The 13th Beijing International Film Festival is to host Iranian feature film “World War III” directed by Houman Seyedi.

The 13th Beijing International Film Festival opened on April 21 and will run through April 27 in China and the “World War III” will be screened at the event.

The film stars Mohsen Tanabandeh, Mahsa Hejazi, Neda Jebraeili and Navid Nosrati. It was selected as the Iran entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards.

Iran welcomes Riyadh-Sanaa talks for achieving peace in Yemen

Tehran (ISNA) - Visiting Oman at the head of a delegation at the invitation of Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian praised Oman's policy of consolidating and strengthening relations between the two countries.

He described the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Muscat as well as the upcoming visit of the Sultan of Oman to Tehran as a turning point in bilateral relations in various sectors.

Presence of even one American in Iraq too much, says Iran's Supreme Leader

Tehran, IRNA- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has slammed the US military presence in Iraq, saying, “The presence of even one American in Iraq is too much.”

"Americans are not friends with anyone and are not even loyal to their European allies," Ayatollah Khamenei said as he received Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid during a meeting in Tehran on Saturday.

Iranian president to visit Syria: official

TEHRAN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will pay a visit to Syria, a senior Iranian official confirmed on Saturday.

During Raisi's visit to Syria, the Iran-led Resistance Front's victory against the United States in West Asia following a "tense period of geopolitical change" will be celebrated, tweeted Mohammad Jamshidi, deputy chief of staff for political affairs to the Iranian president.

Iran, Syria sign comprehensive deal on enhancing economic cooperation

TEHRAN, April 28 (NNN-XINHUA) — Iran and Syria on Thursday signed a comprehensive memorandum of understanding (MoU) on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

The MoU was signed by Iranian Roads and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash and Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil, as the co-chairs of the two countries’ joint economic commission, at a ceremony in the Syrian capital Damascus, the report said.

Iran says U.S., West seek to turn Ukraine conflict into war of attrition

TEHRAN, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian defense minister said the United States and some Western countries are after turning the conflict in Ukraine into "a war of attrition" by continuing sending weapons to Kiev, official news agency IRNA reported on Friday.

Mohammadreza Ashtiani made the remarks in a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khrenin in New Delhi, India, on Thursday, in which they also highlighted the necessity of expanding and continuing the bilateral relations.

Iran Army says seized oil tanker collided with Iranian vessel

27 Apr 2023; MEMO: Iran's Army said, on Thursday, it had seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman after it collided with an Iranian boat, injuring several crewmen, Iranian state media reported, Reuters reports.

"A Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker was seized by Iranian Army's Naval Force in the Persian Gulf after it collided with an Iranian boat in the Gulf of Oman and tried to flee," the Army statement said.
