Gen. Soleimani thwarted US plot to disintegrate states of region: IRGC

Kerman, Jan 3, IRNA – Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif said the US seeks to plunder nations in the region and disintegrating Islamic states, adding that Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani thwarted the US plot to disintegrate states in the region.

Speaking in a meeting to commemorate anniversary of General Soleimani's martyrdom, Shrif said that formation of a powerful Islamic force for the first time in 200 years helped Muslims fight united against a common enemy.

Iranian officials warn against "hostile moves" in anniversary of Soleimani assassination

TEHRAN, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Several Iranian political and military officials issued warnings on Saturday over possible hostile movements against Iran, on the first anniversary of the killing of commander Qassem Soleimani.

"New intelligence from Iraq indicate that Israeli agent-provocateurs are plotting attacks against Americans-putting an outgoing Trump in a bind with a fake casus belli," Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on social media, as quoted by official news agency IRNA.

12 injured in gas explosion in SW Iran

TEHRAN, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- A gas explosion in a residential building in the Iranian southwestern city of Ahvaz on Friday injured 12 people, semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

Two floors of the building were damaged in the incident, according to the report.

Following the incident, a rapid reaction team and two rescue teams from the Iranian Red Crescent Society were sent to the area.

Iran commander vows 'resistance' a year after Soleimani killing

(Reuters) - The U.S. killing of top general Qassem Soleimani will not deter Iranian resistance, a senior commander said on Friday as tensions mounted in the build-up to the first anniversary of the drone strike.

The United States killed Soleimani, leader of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, in Iraq on Jan. 3, 2020. Washington had accused him of masterminding attacks by Iranian-aligned militias on U.S. forces in the region.

He made the remarks in a ceremony Friday morning to mark the first anniversary of the martyrdom of the late commander of the Quds forces Gen. Soleimani who was assassinated by the US forces in Baghdad.

TEHRAN, Dec 30 (NNN-IRNA) – Iraq paid “part” of its energy debt to Iran through a barter agreement, an Iranian official was quoted as saying.

“Iran has bought commodities as part of Iraq’s debt for electricity, and they will enter the country in the next few days,” Secretary-General of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce, Hamid Hosseini, declared.
