Israeli airstrike on Orthodox church in Gaza kills 8 Palestinians, injures several others

20 October 2023; MEMO: At least eight people were killed in an overnight Israeli airstrike on the Greek Orthodox Saint Porphyrius Church in Gaza city, which was sheltering hundreds of Palestinians, local media reported on Friday.

According to the official Wafa news agency, Israeli jet fighters bombed the Greek Orthodox Saint Porphyrius Church on Thursday night, killing eight Palestinians and injuring dozens more, the majority of whom were women and children.

UK Labour Party shaken by string of resignations over stance on Gaza

Irish MEP accuses EU of hypocrisy over Palestine

19 October 2023; MEMO: An Irish Member of the European Parliament criticised the EU for hypocrisy on the issue of Palestine, Anadolu Agency reports.

In an interview with Anadolu, Mick Wallace regretted that Israel had the support of not just the US but also the EU.

“The violence is directly linked to the Occupation,” the MEP said. “If we want to stop the violence, we have to stop the Occupation.”

Israeli forces conduct raid, imposes blockade on West Bank refugee camp

19 October 2023; MEMO: The Israeli occupying forces, this morning, imposed a raid and a military blockade around the Nour Shams refugee camp, located east of the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm.

According to a Wafa correspondent, the military conducted home searches and used bulldozers to clear streets before imposing the blockade, severely restricting Palestinian residents’ movement.

It comes as Washington vetoed a UN resolution calling for a humanitarian pause in Israel's violent assault on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Fuel reserves at Gaza hospitals to run out within 24 hours'; UN

16 October 2023; MEMO: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned yesterday on X that fuel reserves at all hospitals in the Gaza Strip are likely to run out within the next 24 hours.

It added in its daily report on the situation in Gaza last night that the shutdown of backup generators threatens the lives of thousands of patients.

Gaza health ministry issues urgent call for world to send medical teams

16 October 2023; MEMO: The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the besieged Gaza Strip has called for countries around the world to send volunteer medical teams to the Palestinian enclave as a matter of urgency to relieve its exhausted medical staff, Anadolu has reported. The appeal has been made nine days after Israel began its ruthless, non-stop bombardment of the territory.
