Woman raped by three near Yamuna Expressway

Aligarh (UP), Sep 14 (PTI) A 30-year-old woman was gangraped in a field on the outskirts of Jattari township near here, police said Friday.

The incident took place in a field adjoining the Yamuna Expressway Thursday and three persons allegedly involved in the incident have been identified, police station in-charge Sanjay Pandey said.

The accused had an old enmity with the victim's family, he said.

Soon after the incident villagers held a protest at the police station alleging police delay in reaching the crime spot.

Kumaraswamy accuses BJP of trying to topple his government

Bengaluru, Sep 14 (PTI) Accusing the BJP of attempting to topple his government,Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Friday warned of legal action against "certain kingpins' who, he claimed, were trying to bribe Congress and JD(S) MLAs to pull down his ministry.

Amid media reports that certain resorts were ready to host some Congress and JD(S) MLAs in the alleged toppling game following internal dissent in the Congress, Kumaraswamy asserted he was ready to face any challenge to his government.

BJP cannot repeat it's 2014 poll performance: Mamata

Kolkata, Sep 14 (PTI) Accusing the BJP government at the Centre of "showing audacity and arrogance", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Friday it has failed in all respects and will be defeated in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

At a programme of a Bengali TV news channel, she charged the BJP with bringing in "militant Hinduism" and claimed many people had been lynched.

Cop's son arrested, charged with rape, intimidation

New Delhi, Sep 14 (PTI) A Delhi policeman's son, who is seen brutally thrashing a woman in a video that has gone viral, was arrested Friday after being charged with rape and criminal intimidation in two separate cases, police said here.

The arrest of Rohit Tomar, 21, took place hours after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that the video has come to his notice and he has directed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take necessary action in the matter.

India: death toll from chemical factory explosion rises to 7

NEW DELHI, Sept 14 (NNN-Xinhua) -- The death toll from the chemical factory explosion on Wednesday in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has risen to seven, as one more body was recovered in the methane gas boiler tank, police said Friday.

The gas boiler tank exploded on Wednesday at Mohit Petro Chemical Factory in Bijnor district, some 440 km from state capital Lucknow.

At the time, 11 people were working at the site repairing the tank that had developed some fault a couple of days back.

Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar alias Ravan has been released from Saharanpur jail after Uttar Pradesh government revoked the National Security (NSA) against him.

Release was ordered after considering a representation submitted by his mother, but Chandrashekhar thinks the real reason of his released is because UP government is “scared”. The Dalit leader, however, expects the government to “frame some charges against” him.

2 Kashmiri separatist killed in encounter, 8 Indian security personnel injured

Jammu: Two Kashmiri separatist were killed by Indian security forces in Reasi district of J&K. Five CRPF jawans and three policemen were injured.

It is alleged that the two Kashmiris belonged to JeM, which calls for Kashmir’s independence from India.

Security forces, comprising CRPF, police and Army personnel, were on a search operation near a house in the district's Kakriyal area.

Airstrikes kill over 60 militants in Afghanistan

KABUL, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Air Force in chasing militants have conducted series of sorties in the southern and northern provinces, killing more than 60 armed insurgents and injuring scores of others over the past 24 hours, officials said Thursday.

In the latest waves of airstrikes, the Afghan fighting aircrafts pounded a Taliban hideout in the outskirts of Tirin Kot, the capital of the southern Uruzgan province in the wee hours of Thursday, killing 17 insurgents and injuring countless others, an army spokesman in the southern region Mohammad Sadeq Eisa said.

28-yr-old woman raped by 2 youths in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 13 (PTI) A 28-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two youths after she was abducted from her house in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday in a village under the Kairana police station.

Based on a complaint by the woman, the youths were arrested, Station House Officer (SHO) Bhagat Singh said.

She has alleged that the youths abducted her from her house and raped her near a tube well, he said.
