KANPUR: There is a complete lockdown as the residents stay inside the house. What they fail to obtain is the net pack for mobile. The shops are not open so a large number of mobile recharge seekers hanker from one place to another. As they don't have the facility for the online system, they look out for the shops set up along the roads.

India: Coronavirus patient dies in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Mar 28 (PTI) A 46-year-old woman who had coronavirus infection died at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital here on Saturday afternoon, taking the number of COVID-19 patients who have died in Gujarat to four, authorities said.

The woman had tested positive for the virus on March 26 and had been put on ventilator, the hospital said in a statement.

India: 130,000 Sex workers in Kolkata face uncertain future in COVID-19 time

Kolkata, Mar 27 (PTI) More than one lakh sex workers of Sonagachi in north Kolkata, Asia's largest red light area, are now staring at an uncertain future and possible starvation as the COVID-19 outbreak has thrown them out of business.

The Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee, an umbrella organisation of the state's sex workers having over 1,30,000 registered members, is in talks with the government seeking unorganised sector workers tag for them so that they can get free ration that the state has offered to the sector.

India: Price of vegetables capped in Mohali

Chandigarh, Mar 27 (PTI) Prices of vegetables were capped at Punjab's Mohali district after the administration received reports that essential items were being sold at exorbitant prices during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The district administration has fixed the price of potatoes at Rs 50 per kg, onions at Rs 45 per kg, tomatoes at Rs 60 per kg, cauliflower at Rs 40 per kg, peas at Rs 120 per kg, carrot at Rs 50 per kg, among other essential commodities, a government statement said here.
