Nivea India starts manufacturing hand sanitisers; to be distributed 'free of cost'

New Delhi, Apr 3 (PTI) Personal grooming products maker Nivea India on Friday said it has started production of hand sanitisers from its skincare manufacturing plants in collaboration with its key partners.

The company said its plant at Sanand in Gujarat which originally manufactures skincare products for the India market has begun production of alcohol-based hand sanitisers, and it will be shifting part of its production towards the making of sanitisers at the plant.

India: 12 Tablighi members from Bangladesh booked for Foreigners Act violation

Muzaffarnagar, Apr 4 (PTI) An FIR has been registered against 12 Bangladesh citizens who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi last month and are now in administrative quarantine in UP's Shamli district, police said on Saturday.

Two persons tested positive for COVID-19 Friday evening out of the dozen Bangladeshi nationals who have been quarantined in a college in Thana Bhawan town in Shamli district, they said.

India: 6 CISF personnel test coronavirus positive near Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 3 (PTI) Six Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel have tested coronavirus positive in Maharashtra, officials said on Friday.

The personnel were posted at Kharghar adjoining Mumbai, a senior official said. Five CISF personnel had tested coronavirus positive earlier, he added.

As of now there are 14 COVID-19 cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation area. Kharghar comes under the civic body's jurisdiction.

New Delhi, Apr 3 (PTI) Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to people to light candles on April 5 and display India's collective resolve to defeat COVID-19, Left parties asked the government on Friday to focus on "scientific measures" to fight the disease.

Modi urged people on Friday to switch off the lights of their homes and light candles, lamps or turn on the flashlights of their mobile phones for nine minutes at 9 pm on Sunday to "end the darkness" of coronavirus.

India: J&K High Court gets three new judges

New Delhi, Apr 3 (PTI) Three New judges were appointed to the common high court of the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh on Friday, the law ministry said.

The ministry issued a notification announcing the appointment of justices Vinod Chatterji Koul, Sanjay Dhar and Puneet Gupta.

With the new appointments, the judges' strength of the high court has gone up to 12 as against the sanctioned strength of 17.

France evacuates 112 stranded citizens from India

Kochi, Apr 4 (PTI) France on Saturday evacuated 112 French citizens stranded in Kerala and Tamil Nadu in a special Air India flight, official sources said here.

The Embassy of France had made a request to the Kerala government to facilitate the journey of the French citizens stranded due to the lockdown announced by the central government to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.

Acting on a tip-off that members of the banned CPI (Maoist) had gathered in the forest near Chirungreda village, a joint team of the CRPF and district police force rushed to the area, Superintendent of Police Indrajeet Mahata said.

India: 10 more COVID-19 cases in Gujarat; total climbs to 105

Ahmedabad, Apr 4 (PTI) As 10 more persons tested positive for coronavirus in Gujarat on Saturday, the state tally of COVID-19 patients jumped to 105, an official said.

Of these 10 new patients, five are from Ahmedabad, two each from Gandhinagar and Bhavnagar and one from Patan, Principal Secretary (Health) Jayanthi Ravi said.
