India: Reliance Industries shares decline over 2 pc

New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd on Monday slipped more than 2 per cent after Jio delayed the launch of its ultra-low-cost smartphone, possibly due to semiconductor shortages that the industry is facing.

The market heavyweight declined 2.25 per cent to Rs 2,370.85 on BSE.

At NSE, it went lower by 2.25 per cent to Rs 2,371.

Jio has delayed the launch of its ultra-low-cost smartphone it is developing with Google, to Diwali, possibly due to semiconductor shortages that the industry is facing.

India: Air Force officers now to avail higher studies at IIT-K

Kanpur: It was after thoughtful deliberations both IIT, Kanpur and Indian Air Force entered into a detailed approval.

According to the available news, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and the Indian Air Force signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

It made them to establish an Air Vice Marshal Harjinder Singh Chair of Excellence Research Scholar Programme (RSP).

It will help to qualify serving officers from the air force to avail direct admission to higher studies like M.Tech and e-Masters programmes.

India: Security forces to have training module on Taliban

New Delhi, Sep 12 (PTI) Border forces and armed police units deployed in the counter-terrorism grid have been directed by the central security establishment to prepare and administer a new training module on the Taliban and its modus operandi to the troops in view of the "emerging" scenario in Afghanistan.

India: Youth caught stealing bags in Dibrugarh-Rajdhani Express

Kanpur: The Government Railway Police and Railways Protection Force arrested an MBA pass out on charges of stealing bags containing cash and valuables of the train passengers on the Dibrugarh-Rajdhani Express.

The police said that Akshay Saxena of HAL colony was arrested on Sunday night.

He used to travel on a reserved berth in the VIP train and would steal backpacks and trolley bags of passengers after they went to sleep.

Circle Officer GRP, Qamrul Hasan said, There had been a major rise in theft cases in the Dibrugarh-Rajdhani train.

India: Woman killed over dowry in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP) Sep 12 (PTI) A woman was allegedly murdered by her in-laws over dowry in the Chhapar area here on Sunday, police said.

The incident took place when the woman, along with her children, was sleeping in her house in Basera village, they said.

A case was registered against the woman's husband Vipin, her brothers-in-law Vikas and Ramchander and Vipin's wife Ikki, they said, adding all the accused are absconding, police said.

India: Bhupendra Patel to take oath as new Gujarat CM

Gandhinagar, Sep 12 (PTI) Bhupendra Patel will take oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on Monday, state BJP president C R Paatil said.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, Paatil said, "Bhupendra Patel will take oath as the chief minister...Only the chief minister will be sworn in tomorrow."

He added the new cabinet will be formed after consultation with the senior leaders in a couple of days.

No discussion was held in the legislature party meeting about the deputy chief minister's post, he said.

India: Tamil is the language of gods, says Madras HC

Chennai, Sep 13 (PTI) Hailing Tamil as the "Language of Gods," the Madras High Court has said temple consecrations across the country should be done reciting Tamil hymns composed by saints like Azhwars and Nayanmars, besides others like Arunagirinathar.

A bench of Justice N Kirubakaran, since retired, and Justice B Pugalendhi, in a recent order also said that in our country "it is made to believe that Sanskrit alone is Gods' language."

India: Potatoes from Anaugi jail in Kannauj to be sent to Kanpur jail

Kanpur: The prisoners in the jail are cultivating green vegetables in the farms inside the jail premises.

These green vegetables are being used as the food of the prisoners. Potatoes produced at Anaugi jail in Kannauj district will reportedly be sent to Kanpur jail.

An agricultural farm in Anaugi jail spreads in an area of about 12 acres, of which eight acres are cultivated. Four acres of land is barren. Varieties like ladyfinger, spinach, taroi, bottle gourd, arbi, brinjal are being produced in two-three acres, while the potato is being grown in five acres of land.

Pilot error likely caused fatal Air India Express crash - report

MUMBAI, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Pilot error and a failure to follow safety guidelines probably caused the Air India Express crash that killed 21 people last year, the country's worst aviation accident in a decade, investigators said in a report on Saturday.

The Boeing 737, repatriating Indians stranded in Dubai due to the coronavirus pandemic, overshot the table-top runway and crashed while landing at Calicut International Airport in the southern state of Kerala in heavy rain on Aug. 8, 2020.
