Jammu, Oct 11 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday launched its first "tourist village" project in the mountainous belt of Panchari in Udhampur district for development of tourism.

Divisional Commissioner of Jammu Raghav Langer launched the tourist village at Panchari under the tourism development programme launched by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Langer said 75 villages in the union territory will be developed as model tourist villages.

Srinagar, Oct 11 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir police has established a distress helpline for members of minorities living in Kashmir in the wake of recent spate of civilian killings in the Valley.

"Kashmir Police established Minority distress #helpline at PCR Kashmir. In case of #emergency, one may call for #assistance on 0194-2482626," IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar tweeted.

The setting up of the helpline comes days after four people from the minority community, including two teachers, were shot dead by militants in Srinagar City.

New Delhi, Oct 12 (PTI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday raided multiple locations in the National Capital Region in connection with its probe related to the recent seizure of 2,988 kg of heroin at Gujarat's Mundra port, an official said.

The searches are being carried out at five locations in Delhi and Noida.

Kanpur: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday accused the BJP of betraying 'Ganga Maiyya.'

He also chided the party for leaving it in the same dirty conditions as it was before.

Bhubaneswar, Oct 12 (PTI) At least three suspected Maoists, including two women, were gunned down in an exchange of fire in Tulasi Forest Range in Odisha's Malkangiri district, a top police officer said on Tuesday.

Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint team of the special operation group and Malkangiri district voluntary force had launched a combing operation in the area, DGP Abhay said.

Kanpur: Following the UP government's recommendation after more than 13 months, the CBI's Lucknow unit has registered an FIR in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 28-year-old lab technician Sanjeet Yadav in Kanpur.

The government had suggested a CBI probe in August last year.The CBI, on Monday, registered a case under charges of kidnapping or abducting to murder against Rahul Yadav, who was an associate of Sanjeet, as was reported.

Sanjeet's family had alleged that Rahul was behind the murder.

She also pointed out that she wanted that all the accused should be arrested before October 16.

New Delhi, Oct 11 (PTI) The Delhi government has to depend on costly gas- based power as well as spot purchase at high market rate as the NTPC has halved power supply to the city from the usual 4000 MW, Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain said on Monday.

Most of the National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC) plants are running at 55 percent capacity as their coal stocks are enough for one-two days, he claimed.

Delhi purchases most of its power from NTPC but supply has been halved, Jain told reporters.
