France, UAE and India conclude first joint maritime drill in Gulf of Oman

09 June 2023; MEMO: India, France and the United Arab Emirates have concluded the first-ever trilateral maritime exercise this week, the Indian Defence Ministry said on Friday, Anadolu Agency reports.

The trilateral cooperation "achieved another milestone in history" as the exercise, which was held on 7-8 June, concluded, the Ministry said.

Thursday's temperature in Jhansi stood at the hottest city in UP with 45.1 degrees. At the same time, the temperature of Prayagraj was recorded at 44.1 degrees.

India rebukes Canada over parade float showing assassination of Indira Gandhi

NEW DELHI, June 8 (Reuters) - India's foreign minister on Thursday hit out at Canada for allowing a float in a parade depicting the 1984 assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her bodyguards, perceived to be glorification of violence by Sikh separatists.

"I think there is a larger underlying issue about the space which is given to separatists, to extremists, to people who advocate violence," S. Jaishankar told reporters in New Delhi while commenting about the tableau in a parade.

"I think it is not good for relationships, not good for Canada," he said.

India: Flight begins with new airport Terminal in Kanpur

Kanpur: The first flight began with as many as 140 passengers from the newly built terminal here.

The airport's new terminal building opened for routine flight operations on Wednesday.

A passenger flight from Bengaluru was the first one to operate from the new terminal building.

The flight was given a ceremonious water salute on its landing at the Kanpur Airport.

The passengers were greeted with Jai Ho slogans on their arrival at the terminal building.

The flight took off reportedly for Bengaluru with approximately 140 people

Air India to send plane to Russia after U.S.-bound flight's emergency landing over engine snag

NEW DELHI, June 7 (Xinhua) -- India's flag air carrier Air India said on Wednesday it will be sending a replacement plane from Mumbai to ferry stranded passengers from its U.S.-bound flight that made an emergency landing in Russia over an engine snag.

A Delhi-San Francisco flight of Air India with 216 passengers and 16 crew members on board was Tuesday forced to land at Magadan airport in the far east region of Russia after one of its engines developed a snag.

Truck overturns, crowd gathers to loot beer canes in Kanpur

Kanpur: A truck full of beer overturned on Tuesday here. A crowd gathered to loot the canes of beer. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot after getting the information. Police handled the situation.

It was later learnt that the truck laden with beer canes turned turtle near Chaubeypur highway as the road was dilapidated. When the police arrived on the spot the crowd was dispersed. People gathered to loot the beer canes.

Washington is working to deepen ties with India and sees stronger military-to-military and technology ties with the world's largest democracy as a key counterweight to China's dominance in the region.

It is also seeking to wean New Delhi away from its traditional dependence on Russia for defence supplies.
