India: Minor girl gang-raped by father's friends in MP

Jabalpur, Dec 14 (PTI) An 11-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two friends of her father in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district, a police official said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on December 7 and came to light on December 11 following which the two accused were arrested, he said.

The Class 7 student was allegedly raped in the backyard of her house by two of her father's friends, aged 25 and 26 years, Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Agrawal said.

Her father, a labourer, was out of home when the incident occurred.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to host 2022 edition of IIFA in Abu Dhabi

Indian Rupee declines by 10 paise to 75.88 against US dollar

Mumbai, Dec 14 (PTI) The rupee on Tuesday declined by 10 paise to 75.88 against the US dollar as muted domestic equities and persistent foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local currency opened at 75.94 against the greenback. During the day, the local unit witnessed an intra-day low of 75.95 and a high of 75.83 against the US dollar.

In the previous session, the rupee had settled at 75.78 against the greenback.

India: Plight of Lakshadweep students, patients raised in LS

New Delhi, Dec 14 (PTI) Lok Sabha member from Lakshadweep Faisal P P Mohammed on Tuesday highlighted the plight of students and patients from the archipelago due to the non-availability of adequate passenger ships.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Faisal claimed that at least five passenger ships, run by the Lakshadweep Development Corporation Ltd, were non-operational for want of repairs.

India: A monkey saves cousin like human at Kanpur railway station

Kanpur: A video has got several hits in which a primate is seen saving a member of its tribe who had been electrocuted.

The incident took place at the railways station here. 

One finds how a monkey has been saved by reviving another one after the latter became unconscious due to electric shock.

The former turned around the senseless primate upside down, licked him.

When everything failed the anxious pushed the senseless monkey into water running next to the track and taking it out.

India: Delhi-Kathmandu bus service resumes from Wednesday

New Delhi, Dec 14(PTI) The Delhi-Kathmandu bus service, suspended for over one and half years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will resume from December 15, Transport officials said on Tuesday.

A notification issued on Monday by the Delhi Transport Corporation(DTC)stated that the Delhi-Kathmandu bus will operate from Ambedkar Bus Terminal at 10 AM on December 15, said DTC Deputy Chief General Manager (PR) RS Minhas.

The DTC has tied up with Skyline India (Motors) Pvt Ltd for operation of the bus.

India: Computer savvy girl uses wit to bring kidnappers into police custody

Kanpur: A computer savvy 16-year-old-girl managed to send her GPS location to her family after being kidnapped. She was reportedly held captive by car-borne men in the city. Her instant mindedness helped the police rescue her.

According to the news, she was kidnapped by car-borne men. They dragged her inside the vehicle while she was walking.

They later administered some injection which sent her into unconscious position. They kept her hostage at a house in Mathura Nagar of Rawatpur area on Saturday.

Mumbai, Dec 12 (PTI) The Congress in Maharashtra on Sunday alleged that the AIMIM and BJP are two sides of the same coin, a day after AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed the grand old party and the NCP at a rally in Mumbai for "failing" to implement a 5 per cent reservation for Muslims in the state.

Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Naseem Khan on Sunday wondered why the Owaisi-led All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) remained "silent" on the Muslim quota issue when the BJP government was in power in Maharashtra from 2014 to 2019.

India: PM Modi does not respond to letters: Gehlot

Jaipur, Dec 12 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday accused the Centre of misgovernance and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not respond to letters written by him.

Whenever the state made a demand, the Centre did not care, Gehlot said addressing a Congress rally on price rise here. Gehlot alleged that misgovernance exists ever since the Modi government came to power.

Modi govt driving country towards 'darkness': Pilot

Jaipur, Dec 12 (PTI) Former Rajasthan deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Sunday accused the Modi government of driving the country to darkness calling both its policy and intention bad.

Addressing the Congress' rally in Jaipur against inflation, Pilot said rising food prices are hitting the common man adversely.

He said the centre must work to curb the inflation just like it withdrew the farm laws.
