India: Minor girl out to celebrate birthday raped: 4 arrested

Coimbatore, Nov 30 (PTI) A minor girl out with her male friend in a park here to celebrate her birthday was allegedly raped by six men, four of whom have been arrested, police said on Saturday.

The 11th standard student had gone to a park with her male friend on November 26 and were returning home at around 9 PM when the gang accosted them, assaulted the man, dragged her to a secluded place and raped her.

They also videographed the incident, police said

Mumbai, Nov 30 (PTI) The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance won the floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly on Saturday.

Altogether 169 MLAs vote in favour of the motion of confidence, pro tem Speaker Dilip Walse Patil informed the House.

Four MLAs abstained, he said.

Delhi; 30 Nov 2019 (UMM): BJP member Subramanian Swamy, a Harvard-trained economist, said the real growth rate of Indian economy is 1.5%, and the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman “doesn’t know any economics”.

“If you look at the economy with a discerning eye, you see that growth may have come down,” Sitharaman said in the Rajya Sabha on November 27. “But it is not a recession yet,”.

India: Onions worth Rs 25,000 stolen from Gujarat shop

Surat, Nov 28(PTI) At a time when onion prices have skyrocketed to Rs 100 per kg, the staple caught the attention of thieves here who stole 250 kg of the bulb, worth Rs 25,000 in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident occurred outside a vegetable shop in the Palanpur Patiya area of Gujarat's Surat city in the early hours of the day, an employee of the shop said.

India: UP man gets life term for raping 11-yr-old daughter

Agra (UP), Nov 28 (PTI): A court here has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his 11-year-old daughter.

The child was allegedly raped and her genitals burnt last year by her father, police said on Thursday.

The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code on a complaint by the girl's mother, who had been living apart from her husband.

India: Woman raped, murdered by boyfriend on her birthday

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (PTI) A woman was allegedly raped and murdered by her boyfriend on her birthday in Warangal district, and the accused who tried to project the death as a natural one has been arrested, police said on Thursday.

The woman turned 19 on Wednesday, and the man called up her, and she left her house that night telling her parents she was going to a temple, but she went with her boyfriend, they said.

India: Campaigning ends for first-phase polling in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 28 (PTI) Curtains came down Thursday on campaigning in Jharkhand for the first phase of polling to be held on Saturday in 13 assembly constituencies.

A total of 37,83,055 voters of Chatra (SC), Gumla (ST), Bishunpur (ST), Lohardaga (ST), Manika (SC), Latehar (SC), Panki, Daltonganj, Bishrampur, Chhatarpur (SC), Hussainabad, Garhwa and Bhawanathpur constituencies will decide the fate of 189 candidates in the first phase.

Voting will take place across 3,906 polling stations, out of which 989 will have webcasting facilities, an Election Commission release said.
