Kolkata, Jan 15 (PTI) The arrows of Mahabharata's Arjuna had atomic power, claimed West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, drawing sharp criticism from academicians, even as he joined a long list of politicians who have in recent years given bizarre interpretations linking mythology with science.

Speaking at the 45th Eastern India Science Fair and 19th Science and Engineering Fair on Tuesday, Dhankhar also claimed that flying objects existed during the period of Ramayana.

Colorado bank robber throws cash in air, shouting ‘Merry Christmas’

COLORADO SPRINGS (US), Dec 27 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A man with a white beard was being held on $10,000 bond for allegedly robbing a Colorado bank and throwing the stolen cash into the air while shouting, “Merry Christmas” to passersby, police and local media reported.

David Wayne Oliver, 65, was arrested at a nearby Starbucks coffee shop after he held up the Academy Bank in Colorado Springs on Monday afternoon, according to a police report.

Kuwait sheep sold for a record $131,600

24 Dec 2019; MEMO: A sheep in Kuwait has been sold at auction for a record 40,000 dinars ($131,600).

This is not the first time that the sheep known as Al-Naama for her white colour and rare breed has received such a high price. In a previous auction, bidders reportedly offered its owner a whopping 50,000 dinars ($164,746) to sell her, however he declined claiming she is worth more.

India: 20 kg onion looted from state-run store in West Bengal

Suri (WB), Dec 9 (PTI) Around 20 kg onion was allegedly looted from a state-run store in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Monday, an official said.

The incident happened at a Sufal Bangla store at the Bolpur bus stand area of the district, where onions at subsidised price were being sold, he said.

India: UP govt plans cow safaris

Lucknow, Dec 8 (PTI) Faced with stray cattle menace, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to set up 'cow safaris' in the state for better safety and upkeep of the animal.

The idea mooted by UP Animal and Husbandry minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary is in line with the Yogi government's aim of cow protection.

"The Yogi government is vigilant towards cow protection and it is our duty to save and secure them," Chaudhary said.

'Armed men' hijack Papua New Guinea plane, steal baggage and cargo

Kokopo (Papua New Guinea) Nov 26, AFP/GANASHAKTI: A charter airline in Papua New Guinea on Tuesday said armed men hijacked one of its planes, forced the pilot to fly to an unused airstrip before making off with the cargo.

Tropicair told AFP that eight armed men approached the plan as it was refuelling in Gasmata, on the island of New Britain and forced him to take off.

A company spokesman said there were no other passengers on board.
