Yemen’s Warring Parties Receive UN Proposal For Truce Extension

ADEN, Oct 2 (NNN-YPA) – An updated UN proposal, calling for an extension of the existing truce, set to expire today, has been received by both sides of Yemen’s warring parties, but its fate remains unclear.

According to a government statement, released by Yemen’s state-run Saba news agency, yesterday, “the government has just received an updated proposal from the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to expand the truce starting from today.”

Yemen: Three Pro-Gov’t Soldiers Killed, 10 Injured By Houthis In Hodeidah

ADEN, Sept 28 (NNN-YPA) – At least three soldiers of Yemen’s joint pro-government forces were killed, and 10 others injured, in clashes with Houthi fighters in the country’s Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, yesterday, a military official said.

The Houthis launched an attack, in an attempt to achieve a ground breakthrough, into the government-controlled areas, in the Hays District, sparking intense fighting in the area, the local military source said, on condition of anonymity.

24 Al-Qaeda Members Killed In Anti-Terror Operations In Southern Yemen

ADEN, Sept 25 (NNN-YPA) – Yemen’s pro-government forces, yesterday, continued anti-terror military operations, in the southern province of Abyan, a security official said.

The troops raided the al-Qaeda terrorist group’s strongholds, in various areas of the province in recent days, killing 24 armed al-Qaeda members, the local security source said.

“The troops launched yesterday, the fourth phase of the anti-terror campaign, aimed at pushing their elements out of the whole province,” the source added.

Prolonged war leaves irreparable scars in Yemeni children's mind

SANAA, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- The protracted war in Yemen not only brings physical suffering to millions of children but also inflicts a kind of pain that last longer -- psychological trauma.

"Many children displayed aphasia or other symptoms of PTSD after they went through heavy bombings. They were overwhelmed by horror and fear," said Suad Al-Haimi, the director of the Al-Tahadi Association for the Disabled in the capital Sanaa.

Gulf countries reaffirm support for Yemen's presidential council

SANAA, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Nayef bin Falah Al-Hajraf, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has reaffirmed the GCC's support for Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the internationally-recognized government, the national Yemen TV reported Saturday.

Al-Hajraf made the remarks when meeting with Rashad Al-Alimi, chairman of the PLC, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly on Thursday.

The two sides reviewed "developments in Yemen and the efforts to renew the ongoing humanitarian truce," said the Yemeni news outlet.

Yemen's presidential council chief calls for new approach to handle civil war

ADEN, Yemen, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chief of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) on Thursday called on the international community to drastically change its long-standing approach to dealing with his country's years-long crisis.

Rashad al-Alimi said during his speech at the general debate of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York that there's a necessity for the international community to adopt a new approach to Yemen's crisis and put an end to the world's worst humanitarian sufferings.

17 Houthis killed in central Yemen: military source

SANAA, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- A total of 17 Houthi militants were killed when attempting to infiltrate into a military camp in the government-controlled province of Marib in central Yemen, a military source on the frontline told Xinhua on Monday.

The operation happened late on Sunday night in Madghal district in the northwestern part of the province.

"Two groups of Houthi militants tried to infiltrate into the camp from two directions despite the truce," the source said on condition of anonymity.

Yemen: Houthis reject Saudi prisoner swap proposal

19 Sep 2022; MEMO: The armed Houthi group in Yemen on Sunday claimed that it had rejected the Saudi proposal to exchange its prisoners with Saudi prisoners, Head of the National Committee for Houthi Prisoners Abdul Qader Al-Murtada confirmed.

"Aggression forces [Saudi-led Arab alliance] seek the release of Saudi prisoners along with mercenary leaders in return for a group of our prisoners, and to postpone other issues to a future stage," Murtada told Saba News Agency.

Roadside bomb blast kills 2 soldiers in Yemen's Shabwa

ADEN, Yemen, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Two Yemeni soldiers were killed on Saturday in a roadside bomb explosion in the country's southern oil-rich province of Shabwa, a military official told Xinhua.

The incident took place when a roadside bomb went off near a patrol of Shabwa's defense troops of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Ataq, capital of Shabwa Province, the local military source said on condition of anonymity.

The blast partially destroyed the military vehicle, killing two soldiers, and wounding five others aboard, the source said.

Houthi rebels kill 7 gov't soldiers in SW Yemeni province despite truce

ADEN, Yemen, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Houthi rebel militia killed seven members of Yemen's government forces and injured another eight in the country's southwestern province of Taiz on Monday, a military source told Xinhua.

"The Houthi rebels launched an attack against a government-controlled area in Taiz, sparking intense armed confrontations that continued for hours," the source said on condition of anonymity.
