Peoples deluge in Siliguri to protect Democracy

Kolkata, October 8; GANASHAKTI:  On 7th October ,2018 it was a Red letter day  for Siliguri  when umpteen  people joined  the march of the commoners to protect the essence of democracy. Siliguri Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya, Party District Secretary Jibesh Sarkar and other Left Front leaders  joined the March  against the ploy  of the ruling party to weaken the democratic process in the state .

Taking democracy to the grass root, it can be recalled that the Left Front in Siliguri has converted  the demands of development of Siliguri into a movement.

Mishra warns that any Ratha Yatra will be dealt severely

Kolkata, October 3; GANASHAKTI: CPI(M) West Bengal State Secretary Suryakanta  Mishra  today, addressing Jatha participants in Kolkata, has said that people will break any Charriot taken out to harm the unity of people in State.

He said that We are hearing three Ratha yatra  are being planned by BJP to be taken out.

People will break the chariot if any of these cause riots or communal strife in the state.

We still remember the way through out the country riots were caused by the taking out chariots by the BJP.

5 injured in explosion in Kolkata's northern suburbs

Kolkata, Oct 2 (PTI) Five people, including a woman and a child, were injured in an explosion in front of a multi-storey building in the Nagerbazar area in Kolkata's northern suburbs on Tuesday, police said.

The explosion was reported outside a fruit shop on the ground floor of the building in the congested Kazipara area under the jurisdiction of Dum Dum Police Station around 9 am, a police officer said.

The injured have been rushed to the state-run R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, he said.

19-year-old woman gang-raped in West Bengal

Jalpaiguri (WB), Sep 27; PTI:  A 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in an under-construction building in Jalpaiguri district, police said Thursday.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening at Jahuri Talma in Jalpaiguri Sadar block, when the woman was going to her sister's place, the police said.

According to the woman, two youths stopped her cycle, grabbed her and took her to an under-construction building, a police officer said, adding, three other persons were waiting there and she was gang-raped.

Bengal BJP’s Bandh call flops

Kolkata, September 26; GANASHAKTI: It became a show of strength  by the Sanghi’s  as the Bandh call by the BJP became a terrible  as working class people from Transport workers to Mill workers went to join in the work, and many even  under strain helped to flop the bandh call.

There were  sporadic violence  however that could not deter people  from venturing out. In Pandua BJP workers bombed a school in frustration as the school was running despite the Bandh call.

PIL moved in HC seeking withdrawal of Wednesday's BJP bandh

Kolkata, Sep 24; PTI: The All India Minority Forum moved Monday a PIL before the Calcutta High Court seeking direction to the BJP to withdraw its West Bengal bandh call on Wednesday to protest the killing of two students in North Dinajpur district.

Trinamool Congress MP Idris Ali, a practising lawyer, prayed before a division bench presided by Chief Justice J Bhattacharya for an injunction restraining the BJP from giving effect to the bandh call.

BJP minister threatens to “break a man’s leg”

Singer turned BJP leader and Union Minister Babul Supriyo threatened to “break a man’s leg” during an event in West Bengal’s Asansol.

Supriyo was invited at the Samajik Adhikarita Shivir to distribute aids to the disabled people.

Supriyo lost his temper when someone from the crowd interrupted his speech and said, “What happened to you? Any problem? I can break one of your legs and can give you a crutch”.

BJP cannot repeat it's 2014 poll performance: Mamata

Kolkata, Sep 14 (PTI) Accusing the BJP government at the Centre of "showing audacity and arrogance", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Friday it has failed in all respects and will be defeated in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

At a programme of a Bengali TV news channel, she charged the BJP with bringing in "militant Hinduism" and claimed many people had been lynched.

West Bengal: Mamata's nephew files defamation suit against Amit Shah

Kolkata, Aug 29 (PTI) Trinamool Youth Congress chief Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, filed a defamation suit against Amit Shah today, alleging that the BJP president has made slanderous statements against him at a public rally on August 11 in Kolkata.

Abhishek Banerjee, also a Trinamool Congress MP, appeared before the eighth bench of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Kolkata and filed written submission, claiming Shah has made defamatory statements against him.

Formidable opposition alliance can be stitched to defeat BJP in 2019: Chidambaram

Kolkata, Aug 26 (PTI) Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has said that a formidable alliance of opposition parties can be stitched together to defeat the BJP and free India from the "reign of fear" in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Chidambaram, however, avoided directly answering a question on the leadership issue or who would be the prime ministerial candidate of the alliance, saying it is a premature question.
