Muzaffarnagar, Mar 5 (PTI) A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man when she was alone in her house at a village here, police said on Thursday.

The 20-year-old man, who is at large, had also threatened the girl of dire consequences if she reported the matter, Station House Officer, Bhopa, Vijay Bahaur Singh, said.

He said an FIR was registered in the case on a complaint by the girl's mother.

Mau, Mar 3 (PTI) Two minor sisters were allegedly raped repeatedly for several days by two men of their village in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district, police said on Tuesday.

The accused used to forcibly take the girls, aged 9 and 10 years, to a forest and rape them repeatedly, they said.

Rudrapur, Mar 3 (PTI) A district court on Tuesday sentenced former Uttar Pradesh minister Prem Prakash Singh, his wife, son and daughter-in-law besides five others to rigorous imprisonment for various terms ranging from two to five years in a high profile land-grabbing case.

The court of judicial magistrate/civil judge senior division, Rudrapur sentenced the former minister to five years in prison.

Lucknow, Mar 4 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government in a single stroke sacked 1,300 Jal Nigam employees appointed during the previous Samajwadi Party regime on the ground of faulty selection process.

Additional Chief Engineer of UP Jal Nigam, IK Srivastav, in an order issued on Monday dismissed 122 assistant engineers, 853 junior engineers and 325 clerks from the date of their appointment following inquiry by a special investigation team (SIT) and the department.

Shahjahanpur (UP), Mar 4 (PTI) Former Union minister Swami Chinmayanand celebrated his birthday here on the day the Supreme Court dismissed a plea challenging the High Court order that granted bail to him in the sexual exploitation case lodged by a law student.

During events at his Mumukshu ashram, Chinmayanand met supporters, listened to a Ramayan recitation and praised those who agitated for a Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Noida (UP), Mar 2 (PTI) Two private schools in Noida cancelled classes on Tuesday for the next few days as a precautionary measure over the father of a student testing positive for coronavirus, officials said.

The two schools announced their closure in messages sent to the parents.

KANPUR: Fast & Steady work of the metro project in the city areas has impacted on the erection of the first pier cap successfully. 

The pier cap is technically is the base which is constructed place U-shaped girder on the top of the pillar. It stands two metres in its height while its length remains 9.3 metres. The width is 2.8 metres carrying a load of seventy tons.

The pier cap was erected with the help of a sturdy crane on pillar number no 19 set between IIT and Sugar Institute. 

Aligarh, Mar 2 (PTI) Fifteen people, including eight Aligarh Muslim University students, have been booked for allegedly instigating anti-CAA protests, police said here on Monday.

Police said apart from former AMU students' union vice-president Sajjad Rathar, those booked included students belonging to Kashmir.

A case was registered against them at the Civil Lines police station on Sunday for instigating protests at the Jiwangarh bypass here, police said.

Muzaffarnagar, Mar 2 (PTI) A special court here held a man guilty of abducting and raping a minor.

The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on March 3.

Judge Sanjive Kumar Tiwari held Monu, alias Ajay, guilty under Sections 363, 366 and 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act.

According to special lawyer Dinesh Kumar Sharma, a 13-year-old girl was abducted and raped by the convict at Kanhahedi village in the district on May 15, 2016.

The victim's father had lodged a complaint in this connection.
