Russia conducts successful salvo launch of Tsirkon hypersonic missiles

MOSCOW, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Friday Russia conducted a successful salvo launch of Tsirkon hypersonic missiles early Friday morning.

"A salvo launch of the Tsirkon hypersonic system was carried out last night, more precisely this morning," RIA Novosti news agency reported citing the president at a joint meeting of the State Council and the Council on Science and Education.

"This is our latest missile, which can hit both naval and ground targets," he added.

Iran announces development of an anti-missile system

23 Dec 2021; MEMO: Iran yesterday announced the development of an anti-missile system to mount to the turrets of T-72M tanks to protect them from attack, the Fars news agency reported.

The announcement came on the third day of land and sea military manoeuvres in three of the Islamic Republic's southern provinces.

India successfully tests new-generation Pralay' missile

Balasore (Odisha), Dec 22 (PTI) India Wednesday successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the indigenously-developed, surface-to-surface missile Pralay' off the Odisha coast, the DRDO said.

The solid-fuel, battlefield missile developed by the Defence Research Development Organisation is based on Prithvi Defence Vehicle from the Indian ballistic missile programme.

The missile, launched from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island around 10.30 AM, met all the mission objectives, the DRDO said in a statement.

India: IIT-K develops portable soil testing device for farming lands

Kanpur: The Portable Soil Testing Device developed at IIT here, obtains soil health parameters of agricultural fields with a recommended dose of fertilisers.

The invention uses Near Infra-red Spectroscopy technology to deliver real-time soil analysis findings to smart phones via an embedded mobile app called BhuParikshak, which is accessible on the Google Play Store.

India: Kanpur IITian receives Young Geospatial Scientist award

Kanpur: Young scientist Rupesh Goyal of IIT Kanpur received the award from Member of Space Commission, GOI and ex-ISRO Chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar on Tuesday.

He presented the prestigious award at the  inaugural event of the DigiSmart India 2021 conference hosted by the Geospatial World. 

R Goyal won the award in recognition of his unique contribution towards the development of the Indian Geoid Model and computation software.

India, Russia sign pact to deepen space cooperation

New Delhi, Dec 6 (PTI) India and Russia on Monday vowed to deepen collaboration in the space sector, including in the human spaceflight programme, and signed an agreement for cooperation in the building as well as operation of launch vehicles.

The pact was signed during the India-Russia summit held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin

UAE, Israel to cooperate on developing unmanned surface vessels

20 Nov 2021; MEMO: On the final day of the Dubai Air Show, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israeli firms on Thursday signed a deal to cooperate on developing unmanned surface vessels (USVs).

According to The Jerusalem Post, the parties to the deal are Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and EDGE, an Emirati advanced tech company.

India: Space ecosystem rife for private players: ISRO chief

New Delhi, Nov 11 (PTI) Noting that the space ecosystem was rife with opportunities for private players, ISRO Chairman K Sivan on Thursday said operational space activities of the organisation will be open for the private industry to take up and commercially benefit from it.

At the same time, for sustaining the existing capabilities of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the New Space India Limited will play an enhanced role in meeting user-driven demands, he said, addressing the Times Now Summit 2021.

India, Israel ink 'innovation agreement'

New Delhi, Nov 9 (PTI) In reflection of their growing defence ties, India and Israel on Tuesday sealed an agreement to jointly develop next-generation technologies and products such as drones, robotics, artificial intelligence and quantum computing, officials said.

The Bilateral Innovation Agreement (BIA) was firmed up between Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Israel's Directorate of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D).
