China's relay satellite Queqiao-2 enters orbit around the moon

BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- China's relay satellite Queqiao-2 has successfully performed the near-moon braking procedure and entered its circumlunar orbit, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) said on Monday.

After about 112 hours of flight, the satellite began to perform near-moon braking at a distance of about 440 km from the lunar surface at 12:46 a.m. (Beijing Time) on Monday and entered its circumlunar orbit smoothly 19 minutes later, said the CNSA.

China's first homegrown hydrogen-powered urban train completes test

CHANGCHUN, March 21 (Xinhua) -- China's first independently developed hydrogen-powered urban train completed a test at a speed of 160 kph on Thursday, marking a breakthrough in the application of hydrogen energy in rail transit.

The train, developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province, was tested on a test track belonging to the enterprise, achieving a full-system, full-scenario and multi-level performance verification.

URUMQI, March 5 (Xinhua) -- China has achieved a significant breakthrough in deep-Earth exploration with the drilling of a superdeep borehole in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region exceeding the 10,000-meter mark, making it the deepest vertical well in Asia, even though the project as a whole is not yet completed.

Chinese scientists find genetic basis making some pandas brown

BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- A team of Chinese zoologists have identified a genetic source making the coat color of some giant pandas appear unusually brown and white.

The world's first brown panda was discovered in 1985 in the Qinling Mountains in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. All recorded photographs of the wild brown pandas were taken in the area. A recent adopted one is the male brown-and-white panda Qizai born in 2009.

China's central SOEs to focus on strategic emerging industries, future industries: official

BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- In an effort to promote industrial upgrading, China's centrally-administered state-owned enterprises (SOEs) should put strategic emerging industries and future-oriented industries in a prominent position, an official with the country's top state-asset regulator said Tuesday.

Investment by central SOEs in strategic emerging industries increased 32.1 percent year on year in 2023, Zhang Yuzhuo, chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council, said on the sidelines of the ongoing "two sessions."

Türkiye's homegrown satellites getting ready to take up duty

TAI Space Systems Deputy General Manager Selman Nas told Anadolu that the company developed an operational satellite for another customer by using the competencies gained in making communications satellite Turksat 6A.

Kurdish astronaut leads NASA mission to the International Space Station

Iran unveils new cruise missile after US deploys warships to Persian Gulf

26 July 2023; MEMO: Iran, on Tuesday, unveiled a new cruise missile named after a slain Iraqi military commander after the US announced the deployment of additional warships to the Persian Gulf, Anadolu Agency reports.

The indigenously-built "Abu Mahdi" missile was formally delivered to the Iranian Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in the presence of Defence Minister, Mohammad-Reza Ashtiani, and senior military officials.
