Second Bombing Rocks Syria’s Afrin, After First Killed 40

DAMASCUS, Apr 29 (NNN-SANA) – An explosive device tore through a vehicle in Syria’s northern city of Afrin on Tuesday, after 40 died in the first explosion that rocked the city earlier in the day, a war monitor reported.

The second explosion occurred in the Mahmoudiyeh neighbourhood in the city, leaving unknown losses, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Earlier on Tuesday, 40 people, including 11 children and six pro-Turkey fighters, were killed, when an explosive device ripped through an oil tanker in Afrin, according to the Observatory.

Fuel truck bomb kills more than 40 in northern Syria: monitor

29 April 2020; AFP: A fuel truck bomb in a market in northern Syria killed at least 46 people including Turkish-backed rebel fighters on Tuesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The blast in Afrin, a city controlled by Ankara's proxies, came as people went shopping in preparation to break the Ramadan fast, according to the US State Department, which condemned the attack as a "cowardly act of evil".

Israel strike on Syria kills 3 civilians, injures 4

28 April 2020; MEMO: Three civilians were killed in Israeli strikes on areas surrounding Damascus yesterday, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA).

“Three civilians were killed and four others were injured, including a child, as a result of the fall of shrapnel from the Israeli aggressor missiles on the houses of residents in the towns of Al-Hujaira and Al-Adiliya in Damascus countryside,” reported SANA.

24 April 2020; MEMO: Syria’s representative to the UN, Dr Bashar Al-Jaafari, has reiterated the Arab Republic’s right to reclaim the occupied-Golan Heights, adding that regaining it up to the 4 June 1967 line is guaranteed by international law and remains a priority for the Syrian government. The territory was seized from Syria towards the end of the Six Day War and later officially annexed it in 1981.

Russian, Turkish servicemen conduct fifth joint patrol mission along M4 highway in Syria

SARAQIB /Syria/. April 21. /TASS/: Russian and Turkish servicemen conducted the fifth joint patrol mission along the M4 highway linking the cities of Aleppo and Latakia in Syria’s Idlib governorate, the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria said on Tuesday.

The mission was conducted under the agreements between the Russian and Turkish presidents of March 5.

Syria: Group Of U.S.-Backed Rebels Surrenders To Gov’t

DAMASCUS, Apr 18 (NNN-SANA) – A group of U.S.-backed Syrian rebels, surrendered to Syrian government troops on Friday, in Palmyra city, in central Syria, it was reported.

A total of 28 rebels and six drivers surrendered themselves and their weapons to the army, following preparations that have lasted for four months, the report said.

It said, after “precise” operation, the armed men were secured after leaving the al-Tanf area and reaching Palmyra.

Syria: 110,000 Idlib residents returned homes since Turkey-Russia ceasefire

14 April 2020; MEMO: About 110,000 displaced Syrians have returned to their homes in Idlib, northern Syria, after Turkey and Russia reached a ceasefire agreement in March.

More than a million civilians were displaced from Idlib Governorate due to the military operation launched by the Syrian regime and its allies in the province in November 2019.

Some of the displaced went to camps near the Syrian-Turkish border, while others headed to opposition-held towns in northern Syria.

U.S. forces send military gears into NE Syria

DAMASCUS, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. forces sent 35 truckloads of military gears into a base in the northeastern province of Hasakah on Saturday, state news agency SANA reported.

The military shipment includes vehicles, equipment, and logistics, said the report, adding that the military support came from Deir al-Zour province in eastern Syria near the Iraqi border.

Over the past few months, the U.S. brought in thousands of military trucks and weapons to Hasakah, according to SANA.

Damascus rejects OPCW conclusions on chemical weapons use in Syria’s Ltamenah

TASS, April 9: The Syrian Foreign Ministry has condemned the report compiled by the Investigation and Identification Team (IIT) of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on alleged use of combat chemical weapons by the Syrian armed forces on the town of Ltamenah in March 2017, the ministry said in a statement published on Thursday and quoted as saying by SANA news agency.

"The conclusions cited in this report were fabricated and are aimed at putting forth false accusations against the Syrian government," the ministry stressed.

73,000 Syrians returned to Syria's Idlib after ceasefire

08 April 2020; MEMO: Around 73,000 Syrians have returned to the Syrian governorate of Idlib following the ceasefire agreement reached between Turkey and Russia in early March.

The Director of the Syrian Response Coordinators, Muhammad Hallaj, said that some of the displaced civilians returned to their homes immediately after the Syrian regime and its allies stopped their military operations in the area.
