10 Iran-backed militias killed in Israel raids on Syria

15 Sep 2020; MEMO: Ten pro-Iran militants, most of them Iraqi, were killed in Israeli air strikes on eastern Syria yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.

The rights group said the strikes had taken place south of the the town of Boukamal near the Iraqi border, adding that the raids were the “third in a month in eastern Syria’s Deir El-Zour city.”

More U.S. military supplies enter NE Syria: report

DAMASCUS, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Fifty truckloads of military gears and logistic supplies for the U.S.-led coalition entered Syria from Iraq on Saturday, a war monitor reported.

The convoy entered through the al-Walid crossing and headed to the bases of the U.S.-led coalition in the countryside of the northeastern province of Hasakah, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The UK-based watchdog group said the shipment is the latest to reach the U.S. bases in Hasakah. On Aug. 29, 50 truckloads of military gears already reached these bases.

Daesh Inmates Stage Riot In Kurdish-Run Prison In North-eastern Syria: Watchdog

DAMASCUS, Sept 10 (NNN-SANA) – Daesh inmates staged a riot yesterday, inside a prison run by Kurdish forces, in Syria’s north-eastern province of Hasakah, a war monitor reported.

In the riot that broke out after midnight, the inmates destroyed a wall in Ghweiran prison and reached the yard of the facility, demanding permission for family visits and fair trials, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Fires devour large agricultural lands in western Syria

08 Sep 2020; MEMO: Fires have broken out in a number of agricultural areas in western Syria, Russia Today (RT) reported yesterday.

A video showing the fires went viral on social media.

Fires have been raging in recent days across a number of large agricultural lands across Syria’s western parts. The fires were intensified in the Slunfeh forest, which extends along the Latakia portal city to the Masyaf Mountains in Homs.

Senior Russian delegation arrives in Syrian capital for talks

DAMASCUS, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- A senior Russian delegation headed by Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov arrived in the Syrian capital Damascus on Sunday evening to hold talks with top Syrian officials, according to state news agency SANA.

The Russian officials will hold talks with the Syrian side about developing and enhancing cooperation on all levels, said SANA.

Pro-Gov’t Fighters Ambush Five Daesh Militants In Eastern Syria

DAMASCUS, Sept 6 (NNN-SANA) – Pro-government Syrian fighters, yesterday ambushed five Daesh militants in the countryside of Deir al-Zour province in eastern Syria, a war monitor reported.

The Daesh militants were in disguise, wearing uniforms of pro-government fighters when they were ambushed, in the city of al-Mayadeen, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Britain-based watchdog group said that the militants were buying supplies and food from the city, when they were discovered and rounded up by the pro-government fighters.

Syrian Air Defences Intercept Israeli Missiles

DAMASCUS, Sept 3 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian air defences, last night, intercepted a fresh Israeli missile attack in central Syria.

The Israeli warplanes fired missiles from the direction of the al-Tanf area, in southeastern Syria, targeting the T4 air base in the central province of Homs, a military source said.

The air defences intercepted most of the missiles and the rest caused only minor damage.

The attack is the latest in a series of Israeli missile strikes, against Syrian military sites.

Assad approves new Syrian government led by Hussein Arnous

TASS, August 30: Syrian President Bashar Assad published a decree on Sunday on setting up a new government in the Arab republic.

According to the president’s chancellery, the new government will be led by Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, who had served as the head of the cabinet since June 11 after former prime minister Imad Khamis resigned. In the previous government, Arnous was minister of Syria’s water resources.

48 Syrian Soldiers Killed In One-Week Battle With Daesh: Watchdog

DAMASCUS, Aug 30 (NNN-SANA) – A total of 48 Syrian soldiers and pro-government fighters have been killed over the past week, during battle with the Daesh group in eastern Syria, a war monitor said.

The Daesh militants carried out attacks, bombings and shelling against government forces in the desert region of the eastern province of Deir al-Zour, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

In addition, 50 pro-government fighters went missing in the desert, while combing areas for Daesh militants, added the Observatory.

Car Bomb Explodes Near Turkish Military Point In NW Syria

DAMASCUS, Aug 29 (NNN-SANA) – A car bomb exploded yesterday evening, near a Turkish military point in Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib, a war monitor reported.

The bomb went off, on the M4 road south of the Jisr al-Shughur area, in the countryside of Idlib, near the administrative border with Hama province, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The car exploded while reconnaissance drones were hovering overhead, said the observatory, adding that, the drones might have hit the car before it could reach the Turkish point.
