Daesh claims Syria bus ambush that killed 37 soldiers

DAMASCUS, Jan 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The Daesh group claimed responsibility Thursday for an attack that killed nearly 40 soldiers in Syria the day before when jihadists ambushed a bus in eastern Syria.

War monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Daesh had attacked government soldiers as they travelled home for holidays in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, killing 37.

It said eight officers were among those killed while 12 other soldiers were wounded in the attack.

Syria Urges UN To Stop Israeli Attacks

DAMASCUS, Dec 31 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian Foreign Ministry, yesterday, urged the United Nations Security Council, to take firm and immediate measures, to stop Israeli aggression on Syria.

In a statement, the ministry said, the Israeli attacks are the result of the “unlimited” support by the United States and some UN Security Council members.

The ministry said, the Syrian government condemns the attack, that was carried out by Israel on Syrian military bases at dawn yesterday.

Missile attack kills 1, injures 4 in Damascus countryside -- Media

DAMASCUS, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and three soldiers injured in a missile attack on the Damascus countryside, Syrian state news agency SANA said on Wednesday, quoting a military source.

Local media also reported that the country's air defenses were repelling an Israeli attack in the skies of the Damascus suburb.

Israeli Midnight Strikes In Syria Kill Six Fighters: Monitor

DAMASCUS, Dec 26 (NNN-SANA) – A total of six pro-government fighters were killed, during an Israeli strike that targeted positions in central Syria after midnight, a war monitor reported.

The Israeli missile strike targeted defence factories, where a scientific research centre is located, in the city of Masyaf, in the west of Hama province, in central Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Britain-based watchdog group said, the strike destroyed weapon depots run by Iranian fighters.

Syrian air defenses confront Israeli missile attack in Masyaf

DAMASCUS, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Syrian air defenses responded to a fresh Israeli missile attack that targeted the western Masyaf area in Hama Governorate after midnight Thursday, Syrian state TV reported.

The TV aired footage of the air defenses intercepting Israeli missiles in the sky over Masyaf.

The Syrian army said in a statement that the Israeli missile attack was launched from the Libyan capital city of Tripoli towards Masyaf, adding that the Syrian air defenses intercepted most of the missiles.

Syria activates emergency hospital over increasing COVID-19 cases

DAMASCUS, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Syrian health authorities have activated an emergency hospital established recently to deal with the increasing number of patients, Ahmad al-Dumairia, the head of Syrian hospitals, told Xinhua on Wednesday.

Established at a tennis court inside the Faiha sports stadium north of Syrian capital Damascus, the emergency hospital is equipped with 120 beds, 300 oxygen cylinders as well as 50 Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines, in addition to a qualified and trained medical team to receive the COVID-19 cases.

3 pro-Iran military experts killed in air strike in Syria

14 Dec 2020; MEMO: Three pro-Iranian Revolutionary Guards "military experts" from Iraq and Iran were killed in an air strike in eastern Syria yesterday, local media outlets reported.

The Ain Al-Furat website said an "unidentified" drone targeted a convoy of pro-Iran military experts near Sabikhan village in Syria's eastern Deir Ez-Zor province killing three passengers: two Iraqis and an Iranian.

Explosions Heard In Syria’s Golan Heights Area

DAMASCUS, Dec 8 (NNN-SANA) – A series of explosion were heard in Syria’s south-western Quneitra Governorate today, causing no casualties, so far, Syrian media reported.

According to reports by Alikhbaria TV (Syrian News Channel), the sounds of powerful blasts were heard, in the southern suburbs of the largely destroyed and abandoned capital of Quneitra, in the early morning hours.

The explosions occurred near the country’s border with Israel, and it was unclear what caused the blasts, the reports said.
