India: Raj govt has zero tolerance policy on corruption: CM

Jaipur, Nov 20 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday said his government has a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and anyone found involved in such acts will not be spared.

During a review meeting of the Anti-corruption Bureau here, the CM said the vigilance wing of ACB should remain active and assured that it will get the resources needed, an official statement said.

In order to provide accountable, sensitive and transparent governance, we have a zero tolerance policy towards corruption," the statement quoted Gehlot as saying.

India: Woman commits suicide due to torture by in-laws

Kota, Nov 20 (PTI) A 27-year-old childless woman hanged self to death allegedly due to "taunts" of her husband and in-laws at Jhalawar's Kala Bhatla village, police said on Wednesday.

On the complaint of the woman's father, police have booked her husband and in-law for the abetment to suicide.

The body was handed over to family members after a post-mortem by a medical board on Wednesday morning.

India: Congress leads in Rajasthan civic body elections

Jaipur, Nov 19 (PTI) The ruling Congress was leading on Tuesday afternoon in most of the 49 civic bodies in Rajasthan where elections were held last week to elect more than 2,000 councillors.

As per the state election department data available till 1.30 pm, 753 candidates of the Congress have won, followed by 590 of the BJP, 14 of the BSP and 2 of the CPIM. As many as 312 Independent candidates have also emerged winners.

India: 2 booked for raping woman in moving car

Jaipur, Nov 18 (PTI) Two persons have been booked for allegedly raping a woman in a moving car in the city, police said on Monday.

The victim lodged an FIR against Navin Yadav and Rahul Gurjar on Sunday accusing them of raping her in a moving car on Saturday, police said.

A case under relevant section was registered with Banipark Police Station.

A medical test of the victim was conducted and the matter is being further investigated, the police said, adding, that no arrest has been made yet.

India: Congress doesn't want President's rule in Maha: Chavan

Mumbai, Nov 10 (PTI) The Congress in Maharashtra on Sunday said it didn't want President's Rule in the state which is in the midst of a political crisis in view of the BJP's announcement that it would not form government.

Senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan said newly-elected MLAs of the party will seek advice from the party high-command over its future political stand in the state.

"We are in Jaipur. We will discuss the issue here and will seek advice for the future political stand. The party doesn't want president's rule in the state," he told reporters.

India: Minor tribal girl raped in Rajasthan's Baran

Kota, Oct 25 (PTI) An eight-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in the Kawai area of Rajasthan's Baran district, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday but came to light only on Thursday, they said.

The girl was playing outside her house and the accused lured her to a secluded place and raped her there, a police officer said.

In the evening of that day, the girl complained of abdominal pain and bleeding from private parts. Her parents took her to a local dispensary but none suspected rape, he said.

India: 7 held for garlanding BSP leaders with shoes

Jaipur, Oct 24 (PTI) Seven people have been arrested for allegedly garlanding two Bahujan Samaj Party leaders with shoes, blackening their faces and parading them outside the party office here two days ago, police said.

Rajasthan BSP president Sumrat Singh lodged an FIR at the Sindhi camp police station, following which the accused were arrested on Wednesday.

The BSP workers were alleging corruption in ticket distribution in the party in the assembly polls last year.

India: Rape accused takes poison as police reach to nab him

Kota (Raj), Oct 20 (PTI) A 25-year-old man accused of raping a minor consumed a poisonous substance as police reached to nab him at Jhalawar's Borkeheji village on Sunday, police said.

He was hiding at his brother-in-law's house at the time of the incident.

He was rushed to a district hospital where he was undergoing treatment, police said, adding that he was stated to be out of danger.

India: Pehlu Khan lynching case: Rajasthan govt moves HC against acquittal of accused

Jaipur, Oct 18 (PTI) The Rajasthan government has filed an appeal in the high court here against the acquittal of all six accused in the Pehlu Khan lynching case.

Pehlu Khan and his sons were thrashed by a mob on the suspicion of cow smuggling in Alwar's Behror on Aprli 1, 2017.

Khan had died at a hospital in Alwar on April 3.

India: Rajasthan woman alleges rape by nine men two yrs ago

Jaipur, Oct 12 (PTI) A 35-year-old woman has alleged she was raped by nine men after serving her a sedative laced drink two years ago in Rajasthan's Churu district, police said on Saturday.

The woman filed a compliant on Friday, following which a case was registered against the accused, Churu Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhvendra Pal Singh said.

He said the accused also filmed a video of the crime.

Medical examination of the victim was done on Saturday and statements will be recorded, the DSP said.
