India: Inflation, unemployment may lead to starvation: Gehlot

Jaipur, Jan 22 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday slammed the Centre over economic issues, saying inflation and unemployment may lead to starvation in the country.

He accused the Centre of diverting people's attention from real issues and said disagreement today was being taken as sedition.

India: Seven-year-old raped in Rajasthan's Bharatpur

Jaipur, Jan 16 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place in Lakhanpur area of the district where accused Lokesh Jatav (21) allegedly lured the minor girl on pretext of giving a candy and raped her at a secluded place.

India: BJP holds kite festival in support of CAA in Jaipur

Jaipur, Jan 12 (PTI) The BJP on Sunday held a kite festival here in support of Citizenship Amendment Act where party leaders and workers flew kites with slogans in support of CAA written on them.

Such kites were also distributed to people on the occasion.

The festival was organised at Agrawal college and was participated by the party's state president Satish Poonia, Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra, former BJP's state unit president Ashok Parnami and others.

India: 5-yr-old girl raped by relative in Bundi

Kota, Jan 8 (PTI) A five-year-old girl child was raped by a relative in a village in Bundi district on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The accused, aged around 20 years, fled the spot when the family members of the minor victim were alerted by her cries and rushed to rescue her, they said, adding that she was bleeding profusely when found.

A case of rape was registered against the accused, who is also a neighbour of the minor victim, under relevant sections of the IPC and the POSCO Act, SHO at Karwar police station Hariram Jajunda said.

India: Six BSP MLAs of Rajasthan join Cong

New Delhi, Jan 3 (PTI) Six Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLAs of Rajasthan met Congress president Sonia Gandhi at her residence here and formally joined the party on Friday.

The six MLAs had earlier extended their unconditional support to the Congress government in Rajasthan.

Sources said the MLAs were accompanied by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge for Rajasthan Avinash Pande during their meeting with Gandhi.

India: 'British informers' questioning Cong's legacy: Gehlot

Jaipur, Dec 28 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP, saying those who were "informers" of British during the freedom movement were questioning the legacy of the Congress.

Gehlot, while addressing party workers at an event on the party's 135th foundation day, said the Constitution is "under threat and voice of democracy is being trampled" in the country.

Jaipur, Dec 27 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of plunging the nation into turmoil and unrest with their ill-thought-out Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.

Accusing the Centre of fuelling unrest and disrupting communal harmony in the state, the Congress leader asked the government to revoked the Citizenship Amendment Act.

India: Raj government bans sale of Chinese manjha

Jaipur, Dec 24 (PTI) The Rajasthan government on Tuesday banned the sale of Chinese manjha, which is a plastic or synthetic string used for flying kites, officials said.

The order was issued during a meeting held by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the matter of injuries due to the use of manjha was discussed in it, they said.

India: Centre should repeal controversial CAA: Ashok Gehlot

Jaipur, Dec 19 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said here on Thursday that the central government should repeal the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as it has "shaken the entire country".

"I believe that no one should be proud and the government should decide to repeal it. CAA has shaken the entire country. Students in various colleges and universities have come in protest, people are taking to the streets," he told reporters here.

India: Rape victim's father stabbed to death by accused

Jodhpur (R'than), Dec 16 (PTI) A man accused of raping a girl allegedly barged into her house in Rajasthan's Pali district, stabbing the minor's father to death and injuring her brother and mother, police said on Monday.

The incident on Sunday night led to protests as irate villagers demanded suspension of the Sadri police station incharge for his alleged negligence in acting on the repeated complaints of threats to the family by the accused. The protesters also refused to allow the post-mortem of the body on Monday.
