Qatar condemns Israeli attacks on Palestinians in West Bank

28 Dec 2021; MEMO: Qatar's foreign ministry yesterday condemned what it described as "continuous attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces and settlers against the Palestinians in the occupied city of Nablus."

"The Israeli attacks are a continuation of their brutal crimes practiced against the Palestinian people," the ministry said in a statement, describing the aggression as a "flagrant violation of international laws and human rights."

Saudi and other footballers cover Israel flag on FIFA Legends uniform

19 Dec 2021; MEMO: A Saudi Arabian footballer is among several other players who scribbled out the Israeli flag from their uniform ahead of an exhibition match between former stars from Arab countries against those from around the world.

The fixture was a showcase event the FIFA Arab Cup Final yesterday, which saw Algeria defeat neighbours Tunisia 2-0.

Algeria beats Morocco in FIFA Arab Cup, players raise Palestinian flags

12 Dec 2021; MEMO: Algeria secured a place in the semi-finals of the FIFA Arab Cup yesterday by beating Morocco in a dramatic penalty shoot-out, winning 5-3.

The quarter-final fixture at Qatar's Al-Thumama stadium saw the two North African teams level in the second half, after Algeria's Yacine Brahimi scored first in the 62nd minute, with Morocco's Mohammed Nahiri equalising just two minutes later.

France, Europeans working to open joint mission in Afghanistan - Macron

DOHA, Dec 4 (Reuters) - Several European countries are working on opening up a joint diplomatic mission in Afghanistan that would enable their ambassadors to return to the country, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Saturday.

Western countries have been grappling with how to engage with the Taliban after they took over Afghanistan in a lightning advance in August as U.S.-led forces were completing their pullout.

Qatar, Egypt sign deals to supply Gaza fuel, building materials

18 Nov 2021; MEMO: Qatar and Egypt have signed agreements to supply fuel and basic building materials to the Gaza Strip, which has been under strict Israeli siege for more than 15 years, the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced yesterday.

According to Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Soltan Bin Saad Al Muraikhi, these joint collaborative efforts will contribute to improving living conditions in Gaza.

Qatar FM to visit Lebanon to help resolve Gulf crisis

02 Nov 2021; MEMO: Qatar's Foreign Minister, Muhammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, will head to Beirut "to discuss ways to support Lebanon" and help resolve its crisis with Gulf states, the Lebanese PM office said in a statement.

According to the statement, Najib Mikati met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow and discussed bilateral relations as well as the Lebanese-Gulf crisis.

Qatari Ambassador Inaugurates Hospital In Gaza

GAZA, Oct 23 (NNN-QNA) – Qatari Ambassador to Palestine, Mohammed al-Emadi, yesterday, inaugurated a hospital for rehabilitation and prosthetics in northern Gaza Strip.

During the inauguration ceremony he said, the Gaza Strip “is going to be better this year and the coming years.”

When meeting with Yahya Sinwar, leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip on Monday, al-Emadi said that, Qatar was exerting great efforts with all parties, including Israel and the Palestinians, to prevent a new round of tension in the Gaza Strip.

Qatar ruler holds talks with Kurdish leader in Doha

17 Oct 2021; MEMO: Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on Sunday met in Doha with head of northern Iraq's Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) Nechirvan Barzani, Anadolu reports.

The meeting dwelt on bilateral cooperation and a host of issues of mutual concern, said a statement released by the Amiri Diwan, the emir's office.

Barzani started an official visit to the Gulf country on Saturday for talks with Qatari officials.
