Pakistan to allow Afghan refugees to open bank accounts: PM

ISLAMABAD, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday announced his decision to allow registered Afghan refugees to open bank accounts in Pakistan which refugees say will help them do business.

Pakistan presently hosts nearly 1.4 million registered Afghan refugees who hold Proof of Registration or PoR cards, which allow them to stay legally in the country, according to the UN refugee agency.

Besides, there are also about one million refugees, who have been documented but not entitled to have PoR cards.

Pakistan does not want war with India, says military spokesman

ISLAMABAD, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani military on Friday rejected India's allegations over a recent attack in the India-controlled Kashmir and also called for peace as the country doesn't want to have a war with its neighbor.

The comments by the military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor, chief of the army's Inter-Services Public Relations, came amid the tension between Pakistan and India after a suicide attack which killed 40 Indian paramilitary troopers in the India-controled Kashmir.

Imran Khan asks Pak military to 'respond decisively' to any Indian 'aggression or misadventure'

Days after the terror strike by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said security forces have been given free hand to avenge the dastardly act.

In a televised address to the nation, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan asked India to share "actionable evidence" regarding the attack and Pakistan will extend cooperation in the investigation.

Pakistan calls back envoy from India for 'consultations'

Islamabad, Feb 18; PTI/GANASHAKTI: In a tit-for-tat action, Pakistan Monday called back its High Commissioner from India for "consultations" amid heightened bilateral tensions after the Pulwama terror attack, days after New Delhi asked its envoy in Islamabad to return.

Foreign Office spokesperson Mohammad Faisal said envoy Sohail Mahmood left New Delhi on Monday morning.

"We have called back our High Commissioner in India for consultations. He left New Delhi this morning," he said on Twitter.

Saudi Arabia signs 20-bln-USD deals with Pakistan

RIYADH, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on Sunday signed with Pakistan eight agreements worth 20 billion U.S. dollars, Al Arabiya TV reported.

One of the agreements is about Saudi Arabia's Aramco-run refinery in the Pakistani port of Gwadar, one of the world's largest refineries, at a value of 10 billion U.S. dollars.

"Pakistan is a dear country to the Saudi people and we will be partners as we have always been," Al Arabiya quoted the Saudi crown prince as saying.

Pakistan Army, FM websites hacked, cyber attack originated from India

Official website of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry and the Army were hacked on Saturday night and were inaccessible for users outside the country.

“The owner of this website (www.pakistanarmy.gov.pk) has banned the country or region your IP address is in (IN) from accessing this website,” the message on the site read when trying to access the site.

The cyber attack is believed to have originated from India, Dawn quoted officials as saying.

Pakistani, Turkish navies hold joint drill

ISLAMABAD, 17 Feb 2019; AA: Pakistani and Turkish naval forces conducted joint exercises in the Arabian Sea, officials said.

A frigate from the Turkish Navy, TCG Gokceada, and Pakistan Navy ships Alamgir and ASLAT, and a long range maritime patrol aircraft participated in the Turgutreis III exercises.

"The main objective of the exercise was to enhance inter-operability between two brotherly navies," Pakistan Navy said in a statement.
