Kuwait new government sworn in

17 October 2022; MEMO: Kuwait's new Government was sworn in Monday before the country's Crown Prince, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, Sheikh Mishal said loyalty to the country and its ruler, respect of the Constitution and laws and protecting freedoms are foundation of the government's actions, according to the state news agency, KUNA.

Kuwait ministers resign hours after appointment

7 October 2022; MEMO: Kuwait's cabinet ministers submitted their resignations yesterday only hours after Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al Sabah announced his cabinet.

Kuwaiti Al-Qabas newspaper said the ministers resigned following parliamentary discontent with the reappointing of ministers from the previous government of Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, namely Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nasser, Muhammad Rana Al-Faris and Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi.

Kuwaiti Experts Called For More Cooperation With China To Tackle Climate Issues

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait Environment Public Authority is preparing an environmental project, to address climate changes, and experts here have called for more cooperation with China, a pioneer country, in their view, in combating climate-related issues.

As the world is witnessing severe droughts, storms, heat waves and other disasters, triggered by an increasingly abnormal weather, the project aims to introduce new laws and regulations, to address climate issues and reduce the risks of aftermaths in the country.

Kuwait votes to elect new parliament

30 Sep 2022; MEMO: Kuwaiti voters began to cast ballots on Thursday in the Gulf country's parliamentary elections, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Polling stations opened at 08:00 a.m., local time, (0600GMT) and will close at 08:00 p.m. (1800GMT).

Some 795,911 voters are eligible to cast vote in Thursday's polls to elect members of a new 50-seat National Assembly, according to the electoral commission.

Kuwait Eyes Cooperation With China In Space Exploration: Expert

Huawei holds tech exchange meeting in Kuwait to promote cooperation

KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech firm Huawei on Tuesday held an alumni meeting for its information and communication technology (ICT) training program to enhance skills of Kuwaiti young talents and promote sci-tech exchange between the two countries.

During the event, participants of the 2022 "Seeds for the Future" training program presented their projects, with the top three students winning awards for their innovations.

Kuwait to lay off 750,000 Egypt workers

22 August 2022; MEMO: Kuwait has announced that it will lay off 250,000 Egyptian workers next month and suspend all contracts with non-nationals.

Some 500,000 further Egyptian workers will lose their jobs over the next year as the Gulf country seeks to remove all expatriate workers across sectors.

Egyptians make up around 24 per cent of the total workforce in Kuwait, the Kuwait Times said in February, making them the largest expatriate group in the country.
