Jordan, Germany Stress Two-State Solution As Only Political Solution To Mideast Peace

AMMAN, Feb 12 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and Germany, stressed that, the two-state solution is the sole solution, to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and maintain peace in the Middle East.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, and his visiting German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, called for intensified international efforts, to bring the Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table, at a joint press conference in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

They noted that Jordan and Germany are working towards the objective.

Jordan intensifies efforts to mobilize support for UNRWA: FM

AMMAN, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Jordan is intensifying its efforts to mobilize political and financial support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said Thursday.

Safadi made the remarks during a meeting with UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, where they discussed means to provide sustainable support to the agency and enable it to continue its vital services for some 5.7 million Palestinian refugees, Jordanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

UN: Jordan issued record number of work permits to Syria refugees

26 Jan 2022; MEMO: Jordan issued a record 62,000 work permits to Syrian refugees living in its borders last year, according to a press release yesterday by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), noting that it was the highest annual figure since the permits were introduced in 2016.

"Refugees can play a significant role in the Jordanian economy, and so they should," said UNHCR Representative in Jordan Dominik Bartsch.

Jordan’s Planning Minister Tests Positive For COVID-19

AMMAN, Jan 25 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Nasser Shraideh, said yesterday that, he tested positive for COVID-19.

Shraideh said that, he was in a stable health condition and adhering to home isolation procedures and infection protocols.

Also yesterday, Jordan reported the highest daily COVID-19 cases, since the beginning of the pandemic, with 11,478 new infections, increasing the caseload to 1,152,526, the Jordanian Ministry of Health said, in a statement.

Iraq, Jordan Agree To Build Basra-Aqaba Oil Pipeline

AMMAN, Jan 11 (NNN-PETRA) – Iraq approved an agreement to build a pipeline to transfer crude oil from Iraq’s southern city of Basra to Jordan’s Red Sea port city of Aqaba, Jordanian Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, Saleh Kharabsheh, said yesterday.

Kharabsheh said, his Iraqi counterpart, Ihsan Abdul Jabbar, informed him of Iraq’s approval of this project and agreed to complete procedures necessary for signing the agreement, according to a statement by the Jordanian ministry.

Their discussions also touched upon the latest international and regional developments and cooperation against terrorism.

Israel hits Syrian port for second time this month - Syrian army

AMMAN, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Israel launched an air strike on Syria's main port of Latakia on Tuesday in the second such attack this month, the Syrian army said, setting ablaze the container storage area where two port sources said Iran has been storing munitions.

An Israeli military spokesperson declined to comment saying: "We don't comment on foreign reports."

Jordan reports 295 COVID Omicron infections

26 Dec 2021; MEMO: Jordanian health authorities have confirmed 295 new cases of COVID Omicron variant, reported Anadolu Agency.

Abdel Bilbeisi, the prime minister's adviser on containing the COVID-19 pandemic, told the state news agency Petra that the new tally brought to 328 the number of omicron infections detected in the country.

Jordan's virus tally reached 1,051,421 cases, including 12,444 fatalities.

Jordan bans screening of film deemed offensive to Palestinian prisoners

09 Dec 2021; MEMO: Jordan yesterday banned the screening of a film which producers hoped would be the country's entry to the Oscars.

The move came after widespread criticism of 'Amira', which the Palestinian Authority described as "unequivocably offends the history and struggles of the Palestinian prisoners."
