India: AAP will contest elections in six states: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jan 28 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said the party will contest elections in six states -- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

He made the announcement at the ninth National Council meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party.

"Other parties have no vision and that is why they are talking about the past. AAP is the only party talking about the future and has the vision of 21st and 22nd century," Kejriwal said.

New Delhi, Jan 27 (PTI) A day after violence during the farmers' tractor rally in the national capital, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appealed to the Narendra Modi government on Wednesday to repeal, what he claimed were, "anti-agriculture" laws.

Taking to Twitter, he also shared a quote by Mahatma Gandhi -- "In a gentle way, you can shake the world."

India: Centre's insensitive attitude, indifference to be blamed for Delhi violence

Kolkata, Jan 26 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday that the Centre's "insensitive attitude" and indifference towards farmers are to be blamed for the violent protests in Delhi, maintaining that she was deeply disturbed by the situation.

Banerjee urged the Centre to engage with the farmers and repeal the new farm laws, which she termed draconian.

India: Pilot of crash-landed Dhruv chopper killed, co-pilot critical

Jammu, Jan 26 (PTI) The condition of a co-pilot continues be critical on Tuesday after a Dhruv helicopter crash-landed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district the previous day, officials said.

A pilot was killed after the Indian Army's advanced light helicopter, which was coming from Pathankot, made a crash-landing in Basholi belt, police had said.

The co-pilot, Captain Anjani Kumar Singh, is still critical, a Northern Command spokesperson said.

India: Bengal BJP chief unfurls Tricolour upside down

Kolkata, Jan 26 (PTI) In a goof-up, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh unfurled the Tricolour upside down at a party office in Birbhum district during a Republic Day programme on Tuesday.

Immediately after unfurling the national flag at the party's Rampurhat office, Ghosh realised that the Tricolour was upside down with green on top and rectified the mistake by bringing it down and hoisting it properly.

India: SP workers hold tractor parade in Bundelkhand

Banda (UP), Jan 26 (PTI) Samajwadi Party workers on Tuesday took part in a tractor parade to protest against the Centre's three farm laws in different districts of Bundelkhand.

A police officer posted in Banda said the tractor rally held by SP workers was stopped near Mandi Samiti.

In Turra village, some farmers tried to take out the rally on the highway, but they were not allowed, police said.

Tiktok to shut down India business

New Delhi, Jan 27 (PTI) Chinese social media firm Bytedance, which owns Tiktok and Helo apps, has announced the closure of its India business following continued restrictions on its services in the country.

Tiktok's global interim head Vanessa Pappas and vice president for global business solutions Blake Chandlee in a joint email to employees have communicated the decision of the company that it is reducing team size and the decision will impact all employees in India.

A stout person who had taken a parking space for parking his newly bought Baleno faced difficulty in parking.

Being defeated in his attempt to park the glossy vehicle on the available space, he came to the owner for giving him another parking area so that he could park his vehicle easily in the way he wanted.
