World on edge of global conflict; Belarus President

18 May 2023; AA: NATO's expansion has brought the world very close to a global conflict, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said on Thursday.

Speaking at a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Minsk, Lukashenko criticized Finland's accession and Sweden's application to the military alliance.

Lukashenko advocates creation of new document as basis for Ukraine talks

MINSK, May 18. /TASS/: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Thursday that a new document is needed as the basis for talks on the Ukrainian settlement, the BelTA news agency reported.

Lukashenko pledges Belarus will take part in UN summit on sustainable development

MINSK, May 12. /TASS/: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has vowed that his country will take part in the UN Sustainable Development Summit, the presidential press service said on Friday.

"The head of state thanked the UN Secretary General [Antonio Guterres] for the invitation to the summit and assured that Belarus will actively contribute to its preparation and will take part in this important event at an appropriate level," it said.

Belarusian crews of Iskander-M missile system complete training in Russia

MINSK, April 22. /TASS/: Crews of the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile (TBM) system of the Belarusian Armed Forces’ missile force have concluded their training in Russia, the Belarusian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday.

"The crews of the Iskander-M operational-tactical ballistic missile system of the Belarusian Armed Forces’ missile troops have completed practical training in the Russian Federation," the statement said. "Today, the Belarusian servicemen landed at the Machulishchy airfield.".

Belarus: Lukashenko held meeting with acting DPR head Pushilin on Tuesday

MINSK, April 18. /TASS/: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with Acting Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin in Minsk on Tuesday, the BelTA news agency reported.

This is the first official meeting between Lukashenko and Pushilin since the DPR joined Russia.

"I’d like to hear, as they say, a first-hand report on the situation. <…> I know about the shelling, and how hard it is for the people. What can Belarus do for Donetsk, how can we help?" the Belarusian leader said.

Belarus: Lukashenko arrives in Moscow on working visit

MINSK, April 5. /TASS/: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived on a working visit to Moscow, the BelTA news agency reported on Wednesday.

"Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived on a working visit to the Russian Federation," the statement said.

It was earlier reported that the Belarusian leader was to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Belarusian head of state will take part in the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

Russian diplomats plan to meet with Russian national Sapega serving sentence in Belarus

MINSK, April 2. /TASS/: Russian diplomats continue to work on the case of Russian national Sofia Sapega, who has been denied a pardon in Belarus, and hope to meet with her, Alexey Maskalev, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Minsk told TASS on Sunday.

"Russian diplomats are working on Sapega’s case. They maintain close contacts with her attorney and the Belarusian side. We hope to meet with the Russian national again," he said.
