SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korean activists say they clashed with police while launching balloons carrying anti-Pyongyang propaganda materials across the North Korean border, ignoring their government’s plea to stop such activities since the North has threatened to respond with “deadly” retaliation.

S. Korean military says DPRK fires 2 ballistic missiles toward eastern waters

SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern waters, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said Saturday.

The JCS said in a statement that it detected two short-range ballistic missiles, launched by the DPRK from the Sunan area in Pyongyang between 6:45 a.m. and 7:03 a.m. local time into the eastern waters.

Cuban PM to visit Cambodia next week: foreign ministry

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz will pay an official visit to Cambodia from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6, where a number of bilateral documents are expected to be signed, the Cambodian foreign ministry said in a press statement on Saturday.

In Phnom Penh, Marrero will have a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and then both leaders will preside over the signing ceremony of a number of documents covering bilateral cooperation in sports, education, culture as well as in other domains, the statement said.

Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi convicted again, her economic adviser sentenced to Three years

YANGON, Sept 30 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi and her Australian economic adviser, Sean Turnell, have been sentenced to three years each, for breaching the country’s official secrets act yesterday, a source familiar with the cases said.

Aung San Suu Kyi has been on trial on multiple charges, including electoral fraud, corruption, incitement, breaching the Natural Disaster Management Law, breaching the Export and Import Law and breaching the Communications Law.

She now faces 23 years in jail.

ADB To Support Coral Reefs Ecosystem In Asia-Pacific

MANILA, Sept 30 (NNN-PNA) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB), said today that, it has approved a financial project, to support restoration, conservation and management of coral reefs in four countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region.

The Manila-based bank said, the project will develop climate risk financing and insurance solutions, to protect coral reef ecosystems in Fiji, Indonesia, the Philippines and the Solomon Islands.

Myanmar’s Passenger Plane Attacked, One Injured

YANGON, Sept 30 (NNN-MNA) – A passenger plane of the state-owned Myanmar National Airlines was attacked during landing, near Loikaw airport in eastern Myanmar, this morning, leaving one injured, according to local authorities.

“A Yangon-Loikaw plane was shot near the Loikaw airport from nearby Wah La Poe Village. A passenger was injured in his ear, as a bullet pierced through into the cabin of the plane,” Zaw Min Tun, head of the State Administration Council’s Information Team, said.

Indonesia approves emergency use of China's mRNA COVID-19 vaccine

JAKARTA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian food and drug administration (BPOM) has issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the mRNA-platform COVID-19 vaccine, AWcorna, developed by Chinese companies.

AWcorna is a SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine developed by Suzhou Abogen Biosciences Co., Ltd. with the participation of Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd. AWcorna can be stored and transported at two to eight degrees centigrade.
