1 June 2019; MEMO: US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner has given a new map of Israel, which included the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a press conference held in Jerusalem, Netanyahu announced that he had received this gift through Kushner, the chief architect of the US “deal of the century”.

Washington, May 31; PTI/GANASHAKTI: Any efforts to import Iranian crude oil beyond the accepted levels negotiated from November to May will be sanctioned, the US has warned, amidst reports that India and China were seeking ways to buy oil from Tehran.

US President Donald Trump last month refused to give waivers to countries like India from buying oil from Iran, in an attempt to reduce Iran's oil exports to zero.

A total of four separatists and an "active associate" were killed on Friday in two alleged encounters with Indian security forces in Shopian and Pulwama districts of Indian administered Kashmir.

Meerut (UP), May 31 (PTI) A 14-year-old girl is battling for life after being allegedly set on fire in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district by a man who was upset over a past relationship between his sister and the victim's brother, police said.

The attack created tension between the Hindu and Muslim communities at a village in Daurala area, 15 km north of Meerut city, as the victim and the accused belong to two different communities, the police said.

UNITED NATIONS, May 31 (APP): A UN expert, who visited WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange in a London prison, Friday warned against extraditing him to the United States where he fears the controversial publisher’s human rights would be seriously violated after having been subjected to “psychological torture” as a result of years of isolation and persecution.

31 May 2019; AFP: Julian Assange has been subjected to drawn-out "psychological torture", a UN rights expert said Friday, accusing the United States, Britain, Ecuador and Sweden of "collective persecution" of the WikiLeaks founder.

The United Nations special rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, Nils Melzer, also warned that if London agrees to an extradition request from Washington, Assange risked the death penalty.
