India: Opposition parties, some BJP allies attack govt over Kashmir visit of EU MPs

New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) Opposition parties on Wednesday stepped up their attack against the government over EU MPs' Kashmir trip with the Congress describing it as the "biggest diplomatic blunder" and others asking the Centre how these foreign lawmakers were allowed to visit the Valley while Indian leaders were denied permission.

Air India seeks $819 mln loan for 7 Boeing planes

New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) Air India is looking to raise USD 819 million (over Rs 5,800 crore) to refinance existing bridge loans availed for six Boeing 787 and one Boeing 777 aircraft.

The national carrier is yet to have long term financing facility for six B787 and B777-300ER, according to a tender document.

Bids have been invited from banks, financial institutions for refinancing existing bridge loan facility worth USD 819 million.

At current exchange rate, the amount will be more than Rs 5,800 crore.

India: New government scheme targets personal gold without receipt

Delhi; 31 Oct 2019 (UMM): According to a new Government of India scheme, a fine will be imposed on gold above a fixed quantity without proper purchase receipts.

Though the details of the scheme are yet to be revealed, government claims that the scheme is to prevent black money in gold investment.

India: Chidambaram moves HC seeking interim bail

New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) Former Union minister P Chidambaram moved the Delhi High Court on Wednesday seeking interim bail in the INX Media money-laundering case on health grounds.

The application was mentioned before a bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, who sought urgent listing of the matter.

The bench listed the matter before the appropriate court on Thursday.

India: RCEP will be third 'jolt' to economy, says Congress

Hyderabad, Oct 29 (PTI) The Congress on Tuesday claimed the RCEP agreement, likely to be signed by India next month, would be a 'jolt' to the country's economy and demanded that the government explain to the people the cost benefit analysis of the mega free-trade pact involving 16 countries.

India: Free bus ride scheme might be extended to senior citizens in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 29 (PTI) The free-ride scheme for women on Delhi public buses might be extended to senior citizens, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said as the initiative took off on Tuesday.

This scheme will help in women empowerment by bridging the gender gap that exists in society, the chief minister said on his mobile application 'AK App'.

India: Swamy criticises EU delegation's visit to Kashmir

New Delhi, Oct 28 (PTI) BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Monday attacked the Union government over a European Union delegation's visit to Jammu and Kashmir, saying its members will visit the region in their private capacity which, he claimed, is a "perversion of our national policy".

He demanded that the visit should be cancelled.

India: AAP accuses BJP of instigating people to burst crackers

New Delhi, Oct 28 (PTI) Accusing the BJP of instigating people to burst firecrakers on Diwali to increase air pollution in Delhi, the ruling AAP on Monday said that the saffron party has "a habit of" opposing everything that the Kejriwal government does.

But Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta hit back, saying the Aam Aadmi Party is making these claims to "distract" people from its failures to curb air pollution to a manageable level.
