Kerala CM inaugurates Kerala pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 4 (PTI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday inaugurated the Kerala pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 and welcomed the companies and businesses in the UAE to take advantage of the present business friendly environment in the southern state.

Vijayan, while addressing a gathering at the Expo, said over the years, Kerala has invested heavily in connectivity, communication networks, skill development and infrastructure, giving the State an intrinsic advantage for growth in industry.

India: Agatha Sangma demands repeal of AFPSA

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Expressing concern over the killing of civilians in Nagaland last year, NPP MP Agatha Sangama on Friday demanded that the Centre should repeal the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from the Northeastern states.

The Meghalaya MP raised the issue of repeal of AFPSA while participating in the discussion on Motion of Thanks to President's Address.

Sangma said the repeal of AFPSA from the Northeast would help in preventing the "unfortunate incident" which occurred last year.

India: 4-year-old girl raped in Punjab's Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur, Feb 4 (PTI) A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 19-year-old labourer here, police said on Friday.

According to local Tanda police station SHO Sub-Inspector Harinder Singh, accused Anand Kumar was arrested under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act.

The victim's mother said in a complaint that she found the accused raping her daughter, the police said.

She raised an alarm, and the accused was overpowered and handed over to the police, they said.

India: Kanpur finds unique variety of aspirants on its assembly seats

Kanpur: Unique variation is seen among the Candidates who do not feel odd at moving in expensive cars during public contact.

There also remains a certain number of candidates who possess wealth in crores.

However, there are a few candidates who seek others' help for moving in the cars.  

As many as 93 candidates are in the run for assembly polls on all the ten seats of Kanpur.

It is reported that more than 20 candidates do not own either a bike or a car.

There are reportedly four candidates who own either a bike or scooty.

Four Terrorists, One Soldier Killed In Attacks On Military Camps In SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3 (NNN-APP) – Four terrorists and one soldier were killed, when Pakistani security forces repulsed attacks on two camps of paramilitary troops Frontier Corps (FC), in two districts of the country’s south-western Balochistan province last night, an army statement said.

The attacks happened in Panjgur district, located near the Pakistan-Iran border, and in Noshki district, located south-west of the provincial capital of Quetta.

Pakistani military conduct search for militants 38 hours after base attacks

QUETTA, Pakistan, Feb 4 (Reuters) - At least three militants were killed by Pakistani security forces and six were injured in a grenade attack in two attacks on Friday following a search for insurgents who had attacked two military bases, killing seven soldiers and 13 of their own, in the latest violence in southwest Pakistan.

India: Dist admin arranges pink voting booths for females in Kanpur

Kanpur: Women voters in Kanpur will vote at pink polling booths set up on all the ten seats here.

"Pink booths are being set up especially for women as they often don't feel comfortable standing in the same queue as men.

The decision to set up pink booths has been taken to increase the voting percentage of women.

These booths will be managed completely by women staff members," said Kanpur district magistrate Neha Sharma.

The authorities have also arranged wheelchairs and toilets at all the booths for the elderly and differently-abled voters

India: Kanpur Metro Rail gets award for Effective Safety Culture

Kanpur: Kanpur Metro has been awarded with Effective Safety Culture Award. It was also recognised for its efforts in completion of priority corridor project by Delhi- based Greentech Foundation, last year.

This body felicitates innovators for their contribution to the protection or safety of the environment and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, UPMRC said, "Environment protection has always been our priority."

Under the Kanpur Metro Project, we have translocated trees, made suitable arrangements for rainwater harvesting, he added. 

India: Kashmiri killed by Indian Sec Forces in Shopian district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Srinagar, 02 February 2022: Another Kashmiri was killed on Wednesday by Indian security forces in Nadigam village area of Shopian district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

The slained  Kashmiri has been identified as Umar Ishfaq Malik.

Indian-American body urges Biden to reject appointment of Masood Khan as Pak envoy to US

Washington, Feb 3 (PTI) A top Indian diaspora group has urged US President Joe Biden to reject the appointment of Masood Khan as Pakistan's ambassador to the United States, alleging that the diplomat is a sympathiser and supporter of terrorist groups.

The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS), in a statement on Wednesday, urged Biden to reject the appointment of the Jihadi-terrorist-sympathiser Masood Khan as Pakistani ambassador to the United States.
