3 attackers on Kabul hotel killed, clean-up operation over

KABUL, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Three attackers on a hotel in Afghan capital Kabul have been killed and the clean-up operation was over, chief spokesman of the Taliban-run caretaker government Zabihullah Mujahid said.

"The clean-up operation on the hotel is over by killing three attackers and rescuing all guests from the hotel," Mujahid said on his twitter account hours after the attack.

"All the foreign guests are safe and only two were injured after jumping from the hotel," he said.

India's retail inflation eases to 5.88 pct in November

NEW DELHI, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- India's retail inflation eased to 5.88 percent in November, data released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation (MoSPI) showed Monday.

"The inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) in November is 5.88 percent," said the data report. "It was 6.77 percent in October."

Food inflation has eased to 4.67 percent in November from 7.01 percent in October.

"The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) eased to 4.67 percent in the month of November. The CFPI in October was 7.01 percent," said the data report.

Bangladeshi PM unveils vision to build "Smart Bangladesh" by 2041

DHAKA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday unveiled her government's vision to build a "Smart Bangladesh" by 2041.

"We'll make Bangladesh a developed country by 2041, and that Bangladesh will be a Smart Bangladesh," she was quoted as saying in a report by Bangladesh's leading private news agency UNB.

The prime minister made the remarks when attending the inaugural program of Digital Bangladesh Day 2022.

Pakistan: IOFS to celebrate its day on Monday to review achievements in Africa

Afghan Police Destroyed Drug Lab, Arrested Six In Kunduz Province

KUNDUZ, Dec 11 (NNN-ANA) – Afghan counter-narcotics police, destroyed a drug processing lab and arrested six people, on charges of involvement in drug business in Afghanistan’s northern Kunduz province, yesterday, provincial head for information and culture, Matiullah Rohani, said.

“Acting on a tip-off, the units of counter-narcotic police, launched an operation in Nikpay village of Khanabad district, in the wee hours of yesterday, destroying the lab and arrested six persons from the site,” Ruhani told reporters here.

1 killed, 10 injured in van-trailer collision in southern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and 10 others were injured on Sunday in a collision between a van and a trailer in Ghotki district of Pakistan's southern Sindh province, rescue workers reported.

According to the reports, the accident took place on the National Highway during the early morning hours when the van driver fell asleep, and resultantly the vehicle hit the trailer coming from the opposite direction.

5 killed, 28 injured as passenger bus turns upside down in Afghanistan

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Five passengers have been confirmed dead and 28 others injured as a passenger bus turned turtle in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province on Sunday, the provincial police said in a statement.

The road accident occurred outside the provincial capital city of Kunduz early morning due to reckless driving, leaving five dead including women and children and injuring 28 others, some of them in critical condition.

Pakistan PM’s son returns from exile to face graft charges

ISLAMABAD (AP) — A son of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif returned home Sunday after four years in London to face corruption charges that were filed against him in 2020.

Suleman Shahbaz reached Islamabad early Sunday and then took a flight to his hometown of Lahore after meeting with his father at the prime minister’s residence, said Ata Tarar, a spokesman for Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League party.

India: MP man jailed for life for raping teen daughter

Indore, Dec 10 (PTI) A man was sentenced to imprisonment till the end of his natural life by a court in Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday for repeatedly raping his 13-year-old daughter.

Special Judge Surekha Mishra sentenced the 32-year-old man under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and also fined him Rs 6,000, a prosecution officer said.

The court also recommended that the rape victim be paid a compensation of Rs three lakh from the exchequer.

UN chief insisted on importance of protection of human rights defenders in India
