MOSCOW, August 6. /TASS/: Moscow calls on parties to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to return to a sustainable ceasefire, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement on Saturday.

"Moscow is seriously concerned about a new round of armed violence in the zone of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," the statement reads. "We call on all the parties involved to show maximum restraint, prevent an escalation of military activities and immediately return to a sustainable ceasefire," Zakharova added.

Russia: Putin Bans “Unfriendly” Investors From Making Transactions In Strategic Enterprises, Projects

MOSCOW, Aug 6 (NNN-TASS) – Russian President, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree yesterday, banning “unfriendly” investors from making transactions with their shares in strategic Russian enterprises and projects, until the end of the year.

The decree, published on the country’s official portal for legal information, prohibits foreigners associated with “unfriendly countries” to carry out any kind of transactions with their shares and assets, in strategic Russian enterprises and banks until Dec 31, 2022.

FT says Western governments are alarmed over Turkey's deepening ties with Russia

Aug 6 (Reuters) - Western governments are increasingly alarmed about deepening economic ties between Turkey and Russia, warning of the mounting risk that Turkey could be hit by punitive retaliation if it helps Russia avoid sanctions, the Financial Times reported on Saturday.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan agreed to boost cooperation in the transport, agriculture, finance and construction industries.

Six Western officials told FT that they were concerned about the agreement.

Russia records over 18,000 daily COVID-19 cases, a new high since April 1 — crisis center

MOSCOW, August 5. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 18,555 over the past day to 18,672,422, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Friday.\

The country records over 18,000 daily cases for the first time since April 1.

As many as 1,906 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down 0.5% from a day earlier. The number of hospitalized patients increased in 40 regions, while in 40 other regions the figure decreased. The situation remained unchanged in five regions. A day earlier, 1,916 people were rushed to hospitals.

Russia: Kremlin says Griner swap must be discussed without publicity

MOSCOW (AP) — The Kremlin said Friday that it’s open to talking about a possible prisoner exchange involving American basketball star Brittney Griner but strongly warned Washington against publicizing the issue.

Griner, a two-time U.S. Olympic champion and an eight-time all-star with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, has been detained in Russia since Feb. 17 after police at Moscow’s airport said they found vape cartridges containing cannabis oil in her luggage.

Russian Speed Skating Union to officially change its name in September — sports official

MOSCOW, August 4. /TASS/: The Russian Speed Skating Union (RSSU) will change its official name in September to the Federation of Russian Speed Skating, RSSU President Nikolai Gulyayev told TASS on Thursday.

"We are changing the name in line with the requirements of the Justice Ministry. The new name is the Federation of Russian Speed Skating. It should be approved at the Congress meeting in September," he said.

Gulyayev serves as the president of the Russian Speed Skating Union since early June, when he replaced in this post former President Alexey Kravtsov.
