India: No spectators at Narendra Modi Stadium for remaining T20 matches

Ahmedabad, Mar 15 (PTI) In view of the surge in coronavirus cases, the remaining three T20 cricket matches between India and England will be played without any spectators at the Narendra Modi Stadium here.

The announcement was made by the Gujarat Cricket Association, which owns the ground in the Motera area of the city.

The matches scheduled for March 16, 18 and 20 will be played without any spectators in the stands, and those who have already bought the tickets will get a refund, it said.

India: Two new IPL teams to be auctioned in May

New Delhi, Mar 13 (PTI) The Indian Premier League (IPL) will be a 10-team affair from 2022 as the BCCI has decided to auction two new teams in the month of May during the final phase of upcoming edition.

The BCCI top brass including president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah on Saturday had a meeting on execution of various policy decisions approved by the IPL Governing Council at the start of the year.

India: Delhi will bid for 2048 Olympic Games: CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Mar 9 (PTI) The Delhi government aims to host the 2048 Olympic Games and it will create whatever infrastructure and facilities required for it, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday.

Delhi hosted the first Asian Games in 1951, and the ninth edition in 1982. In 2010, the national capital had hosted the Commonwealth Games.

"Delhi will bid for the 2048 Olympic games. We will create whatever infrastructure and other facilities are required for it," Kejriwal said during a post-budget press conference.

India: Yusuf Pathan launches cricket academy in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (PTI) Former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan on Tuesday inaugurated the 26th centre of Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) here, with an aim to provide world-class coaching to budding cricketers of the city.

During the occasion, Yusuf interacted with the trainees and shared his experiences of playing cricket in Hyderabad, a CAP release said.

India: Chris Morris becomes most expensive IPL in auction history

Chennai, Feb 18 (PTI) Chris Morris on Friday became the most expensive buy in the IPL auction history with Rajasthan Royals shelling out Rs 16.25 crore (Rs 162.5 million) for the South Africa all-rounder even as uncapped players such as Karnataka's K Gowtham also hogged the limelight with hefty deals here.

Spin bowling All-rounder Gowtham was bought for a record Rs 9.25 crore by the Chennai Super Kings. The 32-year-old is currently with the Indian team as a net bowler for the ongoing Test series against England.

Australia: Crowd capacity limited to 25 per cent for third India-Australia Test in Sydney

Sydney, Jan 4 (PTI) The crowd limit for the third Test between India and Australia, beginning here from Thursday, has been reduced to 25 per cent of the SCG's seating capacity on advice of the New South Wales government after fresh COVID-19 cases were recorded in the city.

Approximately 9500 people would be allowed to watch the game with the series currently locked at 1-1 following India's remarkable comeback in Melbourne. The SCG has a seating capacity of about 38,000.
