Malaysian PM denies claims that judiciary system used for political revenge

KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian Prime Minister Menteri Anwar Ibrahim denied claims that he was using the country’s judiciary system to seek political revenge against certain individuals.

Anwar said instead he always respected the judiciary system in the country, including not interfering in decisions made by the Attorney-General or judges on any said case.

“If revenge was on my mind or my intention, many would have been sent to the Sungai Buloh prison (in the state of Selangor) already, but I know the need to defend the principles of adhering to the law.

Ukraine recaptures village as Russian forces hold other lines, fire on fleeing civilians elsewhere

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s military on Sunday reported recapturing a southeastern village as Russian forces claimed to repel multiple attacks in the area, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s top adviser said six people were injured after Moscow’s troops opened fire at a boat evacuating people from Russian-occupied areas to Ukrainian-held territory along a flooded front line far to the south.

The battlefield showdown in the southeast and chaotic scenes from inundated southern Ukraine marked the latest upheaval and bloodshed in Russia’s war in Ukraine, now in its 16th month.

5 workers dead in rocket and explosives factory blast in Turkish capital

10 June 2023; MEMO: At least five workers died on Saturday in an explosion at a rocket and explosives factory in Ttrkiye's capital Ankara, according to the country's National Defense Ministry, Anadolu reports.

"An explosion occurred at the MKE Rocket and Explosives Factory in the Elmadag district of Ankara. As a result of the explosion, five of our workers have been martyred," the ministry said in a statement.

Syria dismantles human trafficking network outside Damascus

DAMASCUS, June 11 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian Interior Ministry announced Sunday that a criminal ring that trafficked poverty-stricken women had been dismantled in the countryside of the capital Damascus.

In a statement, the ministry said its Criminal Security Branch, after investigation and monitoring, busted a large human trafficking network and arrested all its members, adding they would soon be tried in court.

EAEU countries to develop industrial cooperation – Russian PM

India: HC of Karnataka confirms capital punishment on man who killed five, including three of his children

Bengaluru, Jun 10 (PTI) A division bench of the Dharward Bench of the High Court of Karnataka has confirmed the death sentence on a man who killed five persons including his three minor children.

The HC has also issued several directions to the prosecution in cases where it is seeking the death penalty.

Pakistan: Two Policemen Killed By Gunmen In Karachi

ISLAMABAD, Jun 11 (NNN-APP) – Two policemen have been killed by unidentified gunmen, in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi, police told the media.

According to the police, the incident took place last night, in Sohrab Goth area of the city, when the policemen patrolling in a police mobile van spotted some suspicious persons on a motorbike and signalled them to stop.

The suspects opened fire on the policemen resulting in their death, police added.

Jabalpur, Jun 11 (PTI) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will kick off the Congress's campaign for the year-end Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls from Jabalpur on Monday after praying at the banks of the Narmada river, a party leader said.

Jabalpur is at the centre of the state's Mahakoshal region, which has a sizable number of tribal voters. In the 2018 Assembly polls, the Congress won 11 of the 13 Scheduled Tribe reserved seats in the eight-district division, with the remaining two bagged by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Sudan's army chief backs any solution to end conflict

Russia says it hits Leopard tanks, U.S. Bradley vehicles in Ukraine

MOSCOW, June 11 (Reuters) - Russia on Sunday said it had destroyed at least seven German-made Leopard tanks and five U.S.-made Bradley vehicles over 48 hours while repelling Ukrainian attacks, though Russian bloggers reported Ukraine had briefly pierced part of the Russian line.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy acknowledged on Saturday that his military was engaged in "counter-offensive and defensive operations", a day after President Vladimir Putin said Russia had repelled the first attacks of the offensive.

India: Spl Court declares Devas Multimedia CEO a Fugitive Economic Offender

Bengaluru, Jun 10 (PTI) A Special Court in Bengaluru has declared Ramachandran Vishwanathan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Devas Multimedia Private Limited as a Fugitive Economic Offender (FEO).

He is one of the nine accused in a Prevention of Money Laundering Act case filed by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).

In the 2018 case, the nine are accused of diverting 85 per cent of the Rs 579 crore received from ISRO's commercial arm Antrix Corporation to the USA.

Mega BRI railway in Bangladesh enters final phase of construction

FARIDPUR, BANGLADESH, June 11 (Xinhua) -- With rail laying starting for the last section of Padma Bridge Railway Link Project (PBRLP), the construction of a mega Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) railway line has entered the final phase.

The project, with a total length of 172 kilometers, under construction by the China Railway Group Limited (CREC) and funded by the Export-Import Bank of China, held a track-laying ceremony from Bhanga to Jessore section on Saturday.
