MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/: Russian forces eliminated roughly 170 Ukrainian troops and a self-propelled artillery gun in the Kupyansk area over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Monday.

"The enemy’s losses amounted to 170 Ukrainian personnel, four pickup trucks and an Akatsiya motorized artillery system," the ministry said in a statement.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Large businesses in California will have to disclose a wide range of planet-warming emissions under a new law Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Saturday — the most sweeping mandate of its kind in the nation.

The law requires more than 5,300 companies that operate in California and make more than $1 billion in annual revenues to report both their direct and indirect emissions. That includes things like emissions from operating a building or store as well as those from activities like employee business travel and transporting their products.

China: US Senate Majority Leader Schumer says grateful for stronger China statement on Hamas attack

BEIJING (AP) — U.S. Senate Majority Leader Schumer said Monday he was grateful for a strengthened statement from China condemning the killing and kidnapping of Israeli and foreign civilians by Hamas, issued during a bipartisan Congressional visit to Beijing that included a lengthy meeting with President Xi Jinping.

Schumer had said earlier in the day that he was very disappointed by China’s failure to strongly condemn the attack on Israel and show sympathy for the country and its people.

Palestine: 4 Israeli captives in Gaza killed in air raids: Hamas armed wing

GAZA, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), said on Monday that four Israeli captives in Gaza have been killed in Israeli air raids.

Abu Obida, the spokesperson of the armed group, said in a brief statement that the bombardment of Israeli aircraft overnight and during the day in the Gaza Strip led to the killing of four enemy captives and their captors from the armed wing.

(AP) — A 150-year-old beacon that helped guide ships through the treacherous Florida Keys coral reefs before GPS, sonar and other technology made it obsolete is shining again as part of a national effort to save historic lighthouses that have dotted the U.S. coast for more than a century.

An Islamorada community group that is spending $6 million to restore and preserve the Alligator Reef Lighthouse turned on its new solar-powered lights on Saturday to remind the public about the effort.

Bangladesh To Import 150 Million Eggs To Stabilise Market
