Russia reports 51,269 new daily COVID-19 cases, 111 deaths — crisis center

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 51,269 over the past day to 20,746,163, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Saturday.

A day earlier, 53,335 daily cases were recorded.

As many as 3,528 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down 9.9% from a day earlier. The number of hospitalized patients increased in 31 regions, while in 50 regions the figure decreased. The situation remained unchanged in four regions. A day earlier, 3,915 people were rushed to hospitals.

Dozens Of Palestinians Injured In Clashes With Israeli Soldiers In West Bank: Medics

RAMALLAH, Sept 24 (NNN-WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinian protesters were injured, during clashes with Israeli soldiers, in several West Bank cities and villages yesterday, Palestinian medics and eyewitnesses said.

Among the injured were three, shot by live ammunition and nine by rubber-coated steel bullets, while the others inhaled teargas, fired by the Israeli soldiers, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement.

Putin invaded to put 'decent people' in Kyiv, says Italy's Berlusconi

ROME, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin was "pushed" into invading Ukraine and wanted to put "decent people" in charge of Kyiv, former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi has said, drawing fierce criticism just ahead of Italy's election.

The Italian leader, whose Forza Italia party belongs to a right-wing coalition expected to win Sunday's parliamentary election on Sunday, is a long-time friend of Putin and his comments are likely to alarm Western allies. 

Russia: Mikhail Mizintsev appointed deputy defense minister for logistics

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, was appointed as deputy defense minister for logistics, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

" Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev was appointed as deputy defense minister for logistics. Colonel General M. Mizintsev previously held the post of chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center," the ministry said in a statement.

Iraqi PM Confirmed Interests In Developing Ties With GCC Countries At All Levels

BAGHDAD, Sept 24 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, said yesterday that, his government is interested in developing relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, at all levels, according to a statement by the ministry.

Hussein made the remarks, when meeting with GCC Secretary-General, Nayef bin Falah Al-Hajraf, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, where “the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation,” the ministry said in the statement.

German leader seeks energy deals, alliances on Gulf trip

Israel no longer partner of Palestine in peace process: Abbas

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Friday that Israel has decided not to be a partner of Palestine in the peace process and that it will be treated as such.

"It is clear that Israel, which is ignoring the resolutions of international legitimacy, has decided not to be our partner in the peace process," said Abbas in his speech to the General Debate of the UN General Assembly.

Chinese survivors had no food, water on sinking boat

SIHANOUKVILLE, Cambodia (AP) — Chinese survivors from a boat that sank near a Cambodian island, killing three people and leaving eight missing, said they embarked on what they believed would be a short-term fishing job and ended up without food and water aboard the vessel and their belongings taken away.

Cambodian authorities said Friday they rescued 21 people a day after the boat small wooden fishing vessel sank near Koh Tang, a Cambodian island close to the maritime border with Vietnam.
