Malaysia has implemented 16 FTAs, 62 bilateral IGAs to date

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia has implemented 16 free trade agreements (FTAs) and 62 bilateral investment guarantee agreements (IGAs) to date, said Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He said Malaysia is currently negotiating new FTAs such as the Malaysia-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Economic Partnership Agreement (MEEPA), an economic partnership agreement between Malaysia and EFTA members including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. This has been under negotiation since 2014.

USA: 3 dead and 3 missing after landslide rips through remote Alaska fishing community

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Three people were killed and three were missing after a landslide barreled down a heavily forested, rain-soaked mountainside and smashed into homes in a remote fishing community in southeast Alaska.

The slide — estimated to be 450 feet (137 meters) wide — occurred at about 9 p.m. Monday during a significant rain and windstorm near Wrangell, an island community of 2,000 people some 155 miles (250 kilometers) south of the state capital of Juneau.

Russia deploys new nuclear missile in Kaluga region - RIA

Nov 22 (Reuters) - Russia has deployed a new Yars intercontinental ballistic missile at the Kozelsk base in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, the RIA news agency cited the defence ministry as saying on Wednesday.

Russia has described the Yars missile, developed in the 2000s and capable of carrying multiple thermonuclear warheads, as one of its newer weapons capable of piercing the missile shield used by the United States and its allies.

Vatican City: Pope says Israel-Hamas conflict has gone beyond war to 'terrorism'

VATICAN CITY, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Pope Francis on Wednesday met separately with Israeli relatives of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinians with family in Gaza and said the conflict had gone beyond war to become "terrorism".

Speaking in unscripted remarks at his general audience in St. Peter's Square shortly after the meetings in his residence, Francis said he heard directly how "both sides are suffering" in the conflict.

"This is what wars do. But here we have gone beyond wars. This is not war. This is terrorism," he said.

Palestinian death toll in Gaza surpasses 14,000

GAZA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has surpassed 14,000 since the current Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on Oct. 7, the Hamas-run government media office said Tuesday.

Ismail al-Thawabta, director general of the media office, said at a press conference that among the dead were 5,840 children and 3,920 women, while more than 33,000 others were injured.

Al-Thawabta said the number of missing persons has surpassed 6,800, including 4,500 children and women under the rubble of buildings destroyed in Israeli attacks.

World Bank Approves 163 Million USD For Safe Water Supply, Sanitation Project In Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Nov 22 (NNN-AKP) – The World Bank has approved a 163-million-U.S. dollar project, to support Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen water supply and sanitation services, in four provinces, benefiting over 175,000 people, said its press release, today.

The press release said that, in 2022, less than a third of Cambodians had access to a safely managed water supply, and just over a third used safely managed sanitation.

Kremlin declines to comment on US suggestion that Russia may get ballistic missiles from Iran

MOSCOW, Nov 22 (Reuters) - The Kremlin declined on Wednesday to comment on a suggestion by White House spokesman John Kirby that Iran may be considering providing Russia with ballistic missiles for use in Ukraine.

"We are developing relations with Iran, including in the field of military-technical cooperation, but we do not comment on this information," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a regular news briefing.

Kirby said the United States would monitor the situation between Iran and Russia, and take appropriate action as needed.
